Who is the third singer in that lineup? In this completely nonsense fabricated scenario, I was picturing Fazzi being the frontman (Adam parts) and just playing aux stuff, except for acoustic songs. But of course he can play whatever he wants because he's amazing.
this is probably the best succinct summary though I think a lot of the information that we have might be a bit biased simply because the band themselves don’t really speak publicly about a lot of this. I know in one of those recent oral history books of the scene (the MySpace ones I think), for example, Eddie talked about the band supporting him financially through his first attempt at rehab. I’m not saying they were right to cut ties with him after he relapsed, but something tells me that Eddie’s version of whatever happened following that might not factor in their feelings, things he may have done and said to them, and their version of the truth. It feels a bit more nuanced than him getting left behind simply because of his struggles. I can see some of the hypocrisy maybe in terms of taking a brand deal with a distillery, but not because of anything to do with Eddie. He’s no longer in the band. I don’t make my work decisions with former coworkers in mind (though I realize this isn’t exactly the same thing; bands do function a little differently). In my opinion though, anything Eddie said that might have had any value went right out the window the moment he mentioned somebody else’s substance abuse issues in his post. He’s since deleted it, anyway.
obviously multiple sides to the story and there is a lot we don’t know, but prior to his departure, it seemed like they gave him a really long runway to clean himself up. If i recall there were a couple years where he was MIA.
That sounds right. He was hit or miss in 2016 after the Tidal Wave release, but I think they said he missed some of those shows due to a family member being sick? And I remember having a conversation with somebody about how they didn’t know until a day or two before their 2017 tour with ETID that he wouldn’t be out with them, but he showed up at the holiday shows that year. I don’t remember when they announced he was out officially, just that it felt like a while of not hearing anything about it.
He mentioned it offhand in a podcast I think, but otherwise isn’t really public with it. He’s not really public with much though, admittedly. But it makes the sparkling water brand deal make a bit more sense.
Eddie was on a podcast a couple weeks ago and said he just talked to Mark recently. He said Mark isn't in the band anymore. "I just recently started speaking with Mark again, who's apparently, uh, he walked away from, er, he's not in the band anymore." Just before 23 minutes into the pod: Eddie Reyes- formerly of Taking Back Sunday Could be interpreted a couple different ways but it's as close to a confirmation as we've had from a source close to the band.
If anything, they’re waiting until after the holiday shows this next week since that largely wraps up their touring for 152. They have WWWY next fall but that’s about it on the horizon. Either way, it’s beyond clear to me that Mark isn’t coming back which is very sad.
It'll be interesting to find out what future material sounds like as he was such an integral part of their sound. I never expected him to potentially be out one day, just like I remember thinking the same about Eddie.
What are they gonna do though? They started working on new material this year, I'm assuming Mark had some kind of involvement in that process. I can only imagine that it's gonna take a while to work on another record while they sort out who will be the replacement drummer...if they get a replacement drummer. Or maybe they will just go right into the recording process for the next album, without Mark, and worry about the drumming at a later date. This is a major loss for the band, though. 152 is my third favorite album by them and I'm very tentative to see what the next album's going to sound like. Considering how tuned into hip-hop and rap Mark was (he was the one who introduced Adam and John to Post Malone), maybe they'll go back to their usual alternative rock sound? As long as they don't devolve into what Fall Out Boy did in the mid 2010s by going full-on pop, I think I'll be okay. Anyway, happy 100 pages, guys.
Mark removed TBS from his Instagram bio. Still in the handle obviously, but he had them tagged there previously. I honestly think there's an extended hiatus on the horizon. Looking forward to heading to NY on Wednesday for the holiday shows but I feel like the end is near.
It'd suck to have a hiatus from them after waiting seven whole years for a new album but if they need it, they need it I guess.
I hope they don't break up, get new members, and continue making albums, all as part of a master plan to drive Jesse insane.
He tentatively quit an hour before they went on stage at one of the European shows in Feb? March? 2017 but yeah he did the odd show after that. Didn't realize he stuck around until the holiday ones though
The Mark stuff is crazy. Really wonder what happened there, I wonder if it revolves around eddie and maybe differences in opinion on letting him back in or something.
the mark stuff has nothing to do with eddie. i don't know any concrete or intimate details as i only heard about this from a mutual acquaintance over the summer, but whether or not they ever address it or make it officially official, it sounds like its what is best for both sides. highly doubt the band will break up. looking forward to the shows this week.
right lol, "they should just break up" these men literally have families. if you don't want to listen to them anymore or think their music is 'bad', simply do not listen lol there is so much other music out there worthy of your time and attention.
