Out of all the things to happen this week, I never would've guessed TBS going viral because of a robbery at knife point to be one of them.
It looks like the dude is talking to someone on his phone at the start of it so he probably wasn’t even paying attention. Yeah, I really don’t know what I’d do as a bystander in that situation outside of calling the cops or taking video or pics. Not getting physically involved that’s for sure. EDIT: the OP said that the guy had a walkie-talkie and laminate on him so it likely could’ve been a member of the crew.
Speaking of the tour- has anyone heard anything about Mark? Has the band said anything beyond that one statement they made? I hope he’s alright.
To be clear I posted the vid cuz I was confused why this was related to TBS and what that person was supposed to do about it lol.
Apparently TMZ decided to embed a 20 year-old music video in their article with the wild headline “APATHETIC BYSTANDER WATCHES GUY GET ROBBED AT KNIFEPOINT... At Taking Back Sunday Gig”
Wild that this is happening. Never in my mind would I think TBS would become relevant again (again) for the the wrong reasons (again again).
Would be wild if this is the catalyst that brings “This Photograph Is Proof” back into the public consciousness and more people realize that the song rips.
TBS will forever be my favorite band, and I know they aren’t known for and have gotten an exhaustive amount of flack regarding their live show, but this video I took last night was as bad as I’ve ever heard them: Taking Back Sunday - Timberwolves At New Jersey Live at the Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ - 5/29/24
FWIW, the show was a lot of fun and not every song sounded this bad, but watching this back today was eye opening.
This is exactly how a high school band would have sounded covering this for a battle of the bands in 2002.
The other night I was watching videos of them performing when he and Shaun first rejoined the band and right before they released Happiness Is, and he sounded great. I know touring is tough but goddamn. Imo Timberwolves has never sounded great live without someone stepping in to do the screaming part live. Would be better if they played Bike Scene or Great Romances instead.
This is such a strange situation man - they have to know about their reputation like this, and it means they either don't care, or that their efforts to improve it don't seem to be working. They clearly want to sound clean, tight, and shiny on the new record, but that effort really doesn't seem to translate to their live performance. PS I love this band and I know touring is hard and as always, hope this is not health related.
