I remember listening to it for the first time and thinking we were in for a banger after the first verse...and then the chorus totally whiffs. That's a lot of S/T to me. Good moments but most of the songs as a whole come up short
I agree across the board. Song rules. The swerve in the video is pretty cool too. Even though they’re all pretty bad actors in their music videos, Adam’s physical acting and throwing himself around has always been really good
How can you say this about an album that has Best Places to be a Mom, This Is All Now, You Got Me, and Call Me In The Morning
I thought it was "I'm gonna get you if it takes me all night long"? Also, now that we're on the topic of this song, I love it but it annoys me that Adam changed one of the lines live--specifically, "Someday, a woman's gonna need you most of the time", and then he adds "NOT AT ALL!" Why? It makes the whole point of the song moot. I know that line could be considered "sexist", but couples have to rely on each other in a relationship--or, any relationship for that matter. It just never made sense to me. "Like You Do" is probably my least favorite TBS song. I actually quite like "Money," I don't care what anyone else says lol. I just feel like "Like You Do" is a redundant song to have on an album that already has "All The Way." It has almost the same lyrical content. Actually, same goes for "How I Met Your Mother" and "Can You Feel That (Here I Am)". Adam really loves his wife (or John, or whoever wrote the latter two songs) and that's cool, but at least those two songs are better than "Like You Do."
I mean ostensibly it is, but also it isn’t. Like when Patrick Stump sings “I’m a little man and also evil, oh so into cats” but what he means is “I’m a leading man and the lies I weave are oh so intricate”.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I love it too. I love the whole thing, but I can steel-man people’s reasoning for not liking the song based off that half. But I can’t do that for the 2nd half because it’s so perfect.
“Money” has the same problem as “Since You’re Gone” in that the music behind it is actually pretty good, but the lyrics and the vocal melody could’ve been worked on a little longer.
I thought it did too. It really just combines down to the sing-songy nature of the verses, although I am aware that plenty of other artists do that too (specifically, people like Tom Petty).
Wow I just don't hear it at all and I have listened to The Ataris version of that song a bajillion times lol
