i think with eddie leaving they were quiet about it out of respect to what he was dealing with. you can see a quote in this article from eddie on the stuff he was dealing with including alcohol abuse. TBS founder Eddie Reyes: “I started mentally falling apart”
The set list is pretty strong. I love seeing so many 152 tracks on there. I would love a few more Happiness Is as well though.
It’s weird to see Louder Now have so many songs on this tour compared to their other albums. If what I’m looking at is correct, it’s as many as 152, and twice as many as the next most represented album. Would’ve been nice imo to see 2-3 of those dropped in favor of some other material.
Glad I got to see Beat Up Car and Better Homes live when I did cause I feel like those ships have sailed
Feel like Better Homes was a set staple for years and years. I'm cool with them dropping it. While Divine Intervention wouldn't be my first choice for a deep cut, it is cool, although they obviously played that a ton during the 20-year so would have been neat to see a real deep cut from another album that they didn't play to death.
Saw that Better Lovers had to back out of the Buffalo show in July and they were replaced by Head Automatica. Holy 2006.
As far as Happiness Is deep cuts go, give me All the Way, Beat Up Car and We Were Younger Then. I’m cool with Divine Intervention. Always was one of my favorites from Louder Now mainly because its such a nice breather after Spin.
I've heard that the reason why they don't play many songs from Happiness Is is because there are multiple guitar parts in each song. But couldn't they just pipe that in from the speakers...?
Oh really? I didn’t realize that. Yeah I guess they could. Or have Adam play rhythm on those songs. Or just patch things up with Eddie.
Every day I wake up and wonder how They Don’t Have Any Friends, Better Homes, and We Were Younger Then didn’t each become setlist staples and propel the band to new heights. If only Like You Do didn’t stink up that run, things would be better I’m sure of it.
It totally ruins the momentum the album has from the first 2 tracks. Clumsy transitions between the different parts, Adam's vocal performance is all over the place and not in a good way, he totally steals and butchers the melody from "Boys of Summer", "I'm gonna get you if you text me all night long", the song is way (way way) too long, and that's before you get to that interminable second part, which is only like a minute and a half but feels twice as long, and that acoustic chord at the end that feels like it's lifted from a completely different album.
