This went up last night. Kinda wish it was longer but looking forward to hearing about the rest of the album:
It was super cool to go behind the scenes of the album, at least a little bit. I'm just hoping that they tell us VIPs some new lore during the tour because that was one of the reasons I got VIP.
you go see taking back Sunday for the same reason you go see blink 182 imo, and I’m planning on seeing them both when I can lol
That post today on their story...do you guys it's for the LA show or something else?? Do you think they're gonna be playing Riot Fest this year? And for the LA show, what makes this one special? What cool venue do you think they're gonna perform at if they're tis hyped??
That one and Juice 2 Me are so good and I haven't seen those get much chatter. I think the last 4 songs + Amphetamine are my favorites but I do enjoy the whole thing front to back
After a few months I think I’d say New Music Friday is my easy favorite. I just wish that little music break after the chorus would go on for another measure or two
Gave the record another listen and I enjoy about half of it. Amphetamine Smiles, Keep Going, Quit Trying, New Music Friday, and The Stranger are solid. The rest I pretty much skip.
Honestly, imagine skipping any of this, given how tight and consistent it is. But yeah, “Lightbringer” rules.
I wasn’t as sold on Quit Trying as everyone else seemed to be right out of the gate, but i’ve finally come around on it, and yeah that whole back half of the album is flawless. New Music Friday rips.
The One grew on me a lot. It didn't catch me immediately but I like it in the context of the album. Lightbringer rips
I wouldn't listen to "The One" on its own but I won't skip it on the album. I think the whole album is incredible, and I think it's my favorite in terms of technicality and replayability (although I'm not one to replay a whole album multiple times in one day, I'm speaking hypothetically). Louder Now is still my favorite but to be perfectly honest "Up Against (Blackout)" is a skip for me, and I think other people can agree with me on that. I think at this point, Louder Now and 152 are tied for my favorites, with Happiness Is being a close runner-up. I think it's fair though. Louder Now is my favorite Fred/Matt album and 152 is my favorite John/Shaun album. Makes perfect sense. I really wish I could love "Lightbringer" like the rest of you guys, though. I understand the hype but it doesn't blow my mind or anything, it doesn't give me goosebumps though. "The Stranger" is that track for me, every damn time.
Agreed about Up Against. Not sure how songs like Sleep or Brooklyn got the axe but Up Against made the main tracklist.
Coming back to this thread to say upon listening to "Lightbringer" tonight, it fucking hits. Fuck. ...Do you guys notice the intense clipping on Adam's first "BAAACK" though? I can't unhear it. It's so egregious.
I do like a lot of Louder Now but agree Up Against is a low point. Replace that one and Twenty Twenty with Sleep and Brooklyn and it's a stronger album. WYWTB is the best one with Fred tho imo. Can't imagine writing a song as good as 180 By Summer and not playing it every show lol
I agree about nostalgia tours in general, but I created a playlist on Spotify for these two albums in the context of a setlist & it passes the last/first 30 seconds test with flying colors. It goes in this order: Amphetamine Smiles Set Phasers S’Old Bonus Mosh The One Decade Keep Going This Photograph IATOOWKY New American Classic The Union Quit Trying Fred Astaire Lightbringer 180 NMF Number 5 w/ a Bullet Juice 2 Me Little Devotional The Stranger Slowdance I know this sort of setlist would never happen but listening to these 2 albums in this way solidified why I think both of these albums are their best.
