Personally, I'd like to see the entire album played in full, but if they're not going to do that, I have stated my case.
I listened to their whole catalog in succession on a drive up to Boston, and it was really wild to listen to TAYF thru Tidal Wave and see the natural progression, but then get to 152, and it is a huuuge progression. Natural because it still sounds like TBS, but theres no frills or filler tracks, the production is immaculate and lyrically its Adam & John’s strongest effort. It’s exactly the album I hoped they’d be able to deliver at this stage in their career.
I'd be very interested in them going the 1975 route - most of the new record in set 1 with a few surprises thrown in, greatest hits set 2
I bought tickets to this tour cuz I havent seen this band in 20 years and May isnt that far away Plus JJs is a cool venue
Some remixes of S’old went up on streaming today. Not my kind of thing but interesting to see from them? did anybody go to any of the shows this weekend?
Liked the remixes more than I thought I would. I’ll probably never listen to them again, but I liked that they weren’t “weird,” for lack of a better word, like remixes usually are also curious for show reviews. Thought I saw they did a Christmas song.
They do a mid-day “pop up shop” on Saturday with a couple of local businesses, Santa photos, and Adam and John typically do an acoustic set with all proceeds going to charity. In the past they’ve played a mix of Christmas songs and their own songs during this acoustic set. If you can find videos of their rendition of the Grinch, especially from this year (it came up for me on TikTok and I forgot to save it so it’s lost to the algorithm now) is very silly.
listening to this so much, started listening to it on speakers where i can hear john’s vox parts on the mix better and it’s made me love it even more. Juice 2 Me is like grown up Great Romance of the 20th Century
I didn't mind the Springloaded remix. They're fine. Wouldn't listen to either much cause they make the original feel slow which is not a thought I ever had about it lol As far as remixes go, I think the only ones I've ever listened to with any frequency were some of The Bad Touch ones back in the day
I know radio is dead but my local rock station seems to have S’old in rotation. I’ve heard it a few times this week at different times of the day.
Today I learned there's a UK tribute act for TBS called "Taking Back Sundae". (They're supporting The 900, the band that covers all the songs from the Tony Hawk games, on tour rn)
Same, my local station played S'old and Landmines the other night. Was not expecting new TBS and Sum 41 to make the radio in 2023 lol
I already got my ticket but the CLE show must be close to selling out already...there's literally 5 balcony seats left (ranging from $100 to $150...) and the only GA tickets you can buy are VIP only. Can't just buy a normal GA ticket. 5 1/2 months in advance, good for them!
The back half is fucking insane. I find myself starting the album at “Keep Going” and then just letting it repeat after that first listen.
Yeah I like the first half (still not that into The One) but the second is the sweet spot for me. Juice, New Music Friday, and The Stranger is a great 3 punch combo to end the album. Juice 2 Me might be my favorite on the whole tape
I did a full discography listen on a road trip recently and I can confirm that this is in the top half of their discography for me. Possibly top three but absolutely no lower than forth.
