Why are we talking about albums by other bands that didn’t once put out a good album called New Again? Let’s just focus on how good 152 is.
Lyrically the new Gaslight album is everything I hoped it would be and then some, but yeah, the production is trash imo. Also Little Fires is a great song but the parts where the drums speed up then it transitions to the verses are a little jarring because the verses are played a few BPM’s slower than the build up is making you expect. Anyways, yes, 152 is really really good and I’m stoked to listen again today
The Ronald McDonald treatment? Do you know what comes to mind when I think about New Again? "Ba ba ba ba ba I'm Loving It"
what? how is that possible. matt was still in the band for new again. did you mean they gave the s/t 5/5?
No, I guess it was just about kicking out Fred then. They def gave New Again 5/5 because that’s the only reason I bought it hahaha
Nah, New Again got 5/5, but in that article the whole band was hyping that album to the moon and probably shat on Fred at some point. Then when they reunited and were promoting the S/T album in AltPress, Mark was like “yeah, I was totally lying about being excited about New Again”. I recently listened to a podcast interview where Fazzi talked about his POV of coming into the band, making the album, then being kicked out. Really interesting listen. I felt bad for the guy, he genuinely wanted to respect the legacy and create something cool with the band, but when the fan & sales responses were underwhelming, he basically took all the blame for it and it really affected him negatively for a little while. Also, I think AltPress did run a story back in 2014 or 2015 about a podcast interview that Matt Rubano did where he gave his side of being kicked out of the band, and yeah it really put the rest of TBS in a bad light. He got screwed over pretty hard. That podcast doesn’t exist anymore, I tried to find it.
I love this band, but they've sure been messy over the years, lol. Hopefully this iteration can be stable and thriving and keep putting out albums as enjoyable as 152.
Correct, October was a hell of a month for releases. 1. TGA (masterpiece) 2. TBS (really great) 3. Menzingers (good to great) 4. Blink (good to great)
I mean, John and Sean have been back in the band for over 13 years now and have released more albums than previous iterations of the band, so I’d argue its been stable and thriving, aside from Eddie leaving the band, but it sounds like that was just Eddie needing to confront personal issues and that he’s still friends with the rest of the band.
