tidal wave has a few tracks in the front half at least. Would love if they made more stuff like Death Wolf.
Dude’s always been handsome. First time I met him in person was at a meet and greet before New Again came out and I remember being surprised at how handsome he was. Nice guy to boot too any time I’ve interacted with him.
Yeah the only songs on it I don’t like are Holy Water, We Don’t Go In There and Homecoming. Everything else though is really good.
Would you rather: Be locked in a room where Holy Water, Money, and Jenny played on an infinite loop for a week OR Go without food until Adam hits the high note in the last line of Liar 3x in a row
Feeling a lot of recently bias, when they put it their next album in 7 years we'll see how everyone really feels
the Tidal Wave hate! while it's not my favorite TBS record, i think the highs are high. examples: death wolf, you can't look back, fences, call come running, homecoming. edit: 152 is better though.
I guess I'm weird, I only like to talk about music in the sense of how it appeals to me. Especially for bands I like who seem like good people, I would never want them to happen upon a post I made and see me tearing down their art. Obviously that situation is all in my head and would probably never happen, but I just don't get any fulfillment from calling well-intentioned music that people put time and effort into "dreck" etc. I don't mind saying something isn't for me - I didn't connect with much on the self-titled record or Tidal Wave, but both have some great songs, obvious talent, and solid performances. Just because I don't connect with it at this time in my life doesn't mean that someone else out there won't love it, and I hope they do. Art is hard, and I am thankful for everyone out there who is making it. Thank you for reading possibly the most genuine post I will ever make on this board, I've lost track of why I started writing it.
Consider me team Holy Water. Is Adam's voice a little grating on it? Yeah, but he's going all out on it and I love how raw and intense it feels. I really love it.
Oooffff…might have to go with option B. Because if push comes to shove I think Adam could it. I would’ve chosen option A if it were just Holy Water and Jenny, but you just had to throw Money in there, and that’s where I draw the line.
Yet you don’t seem to have an issue with me reading something clearly responding to something I wrote and yet not actually just quoting me or asking me about it. Simple answer: I do not believe all “art” is equal. And the band making way better music is only one example of that. (I also think Mike Sapone’s continued Brand New promotion is gross and think he did a bad job on the last album. And band members have said way worse about me than anything anyone’s written here about some bad songs.)
I just think it would’ve worked better in a slightly lower key, but I admit I do appreciate the intensity of it.
I think it's fine to say you don't like something or even call it bad, but I find it reductive to just be like "Nah that album sucks ass" and not really even try to articulate why. That's when these threads become annoying because it's not even a discussion.
