Haven’t heard “The Stranger” yet, but swap CMITM with EMG and Head Club with I’ll Find a Way, and now we’re talkin’
god all the songs on this new one are so good. i told y'all "the stranger" was weird (i adore it though, one of the best songs on the record)
I’d like it more if there was more happening lyrically. Not that the lyrics are bad, just feels a little sparse. But goddamn if it doesn’t give me chills when the whole band comes in, then Mark & Shaun both start going off. I talked to Mark after a show on the Tidal Wave tour and he said that was a conscious decision to do a more low-key closer vocally and let the band jam out. He said he (obviously) had a lot of fun tracking that one.
I think he’d really benefit from a chat with Tom Delonge to find out what he’s been using the last couple years. Dude sounds the way he did 20 years ago thanks to autotune advancements. I’m all for it!
I think they need to tune their instruments down another half-step to D Standard/Drop C. They had a good run in Eb/Drop C# but its def harder for his voice to keep up over the course of a tour.
these songs are much more in his current range. i've found he sounds much better on things from Happiness Is onward
Lol no I mean there’s a good handful of times where I literally can’t figure out the words Adam is singing, but it sounds good regardless.
lol it just hit me - not sure I'm going to be able to hear New Music Friday without hearing Coldplay's Sky Full of Stars
he also does more cardio on stage in 90 minutes than I probably do in a week, and I’ll take the entertainment of that over his voice sounding like a copy from the record any day
Not grabbing me as much as their last two records on first listen, but I liked it and I'm sure it'll grow on me.
Keep Going is so good. Those lyrics are pretty visceral so I appreciate he sounds really fucking pissed off in his vocal delivery
the u2 vibes are strong and they are goood. a gorgeous well written pop rock record that glimmers and shines. what ive always wanted from them at this stage of their career. they finally met my expectations.
so is anyone else gonna say it or is it gonna have to be me? what the fuck is going on with these late career explosions we've been seeing from staple bands on this website this year? blink? fall out boy? taking back sunday? is it all a coincidence or is there something in the air impacting only 40 something pop punk guys?
Just finished my first listen, and wow this was fantastic. Had NO idea they had it in them to make something this good in 2023. After the past few times seeing them live (mostly opening) and no new music for years, I'd kinda thrown in the towel on being a fan and swore off seeing them live again. I'd love to see them play this whole record live. This is fresh and invigorating for them and Jason was correct with his assessment. Bravo TBS. Bravo.
The team at fantasy is doing so much work for them. Adam had a video on US Weekly? https://www.usmagazine.com/entertai...oks-back-on-taking-back-sundays-iconic-songs/
Seriously, who's next?! Which band is going to come out of the woodwork and blow us away like those three have so far?
