I like the song and the art. Song kinda made me think of Gaslight Anthem although i don't really listen to them so I might be off there haha
The best version of this band to me was Louder Now and New Again. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that but those songs on those two records are so catchy and huge. I personally haven't heard songs I love as much as "Summer, man", "Twenty-Twenty Surgery", or "Liar" on the last two records. I would say here's to hoping but I honestly feel like that big catchy rock version of the band is forever gone. I feel like the band hasn't been able to recapture that magic fully since Nolan and Cooper has been back. The thing too is this song ain't bad at all. In fact, I love the chorus and Adam sounds great but the song sounds like it isn't fully realized. It's not as good as it could be or should be given how long this band has been around. I'll check out the album regardless and I love the artwork but I haven't been excited for a TBS record in a long while and that alone just bums me out.
I don't get the hate on "I Am A Nightmare". I love it so much and I am not the biggest fan of YFW compared to the rest of their discography.
Not alone man, the below songs are some of my favourites by TBS from both those albums. What's It Feel Like To Be a Ghost, Liar Liar, MakeDamnSure, Twenty-Twenty Surgery, Divine Intervention, Miami, Brooklyn, Sleep, New Again, Sink Into Me, Swing, Catholic Knees, Carpathia, Everything Must Go. I do really like the new song, most of Happiness Is and Self Titled, so I've been lucky.
I like it. I am really looking forward to this more than I was before. This new style suits Adam's vocals.
pleasantly surprised with how the recorded version of this came out. comes off very petty/ramones/gaslight-ish. i'm into it.
Wow, loving this song. Love the "Beg! Plead! Cry! Pray/ "Run! Hide! Leave! Stay!" screams in the background. Also, the ending harmony is great fun. Good stuff.
I've written 3 drastically different posts regarding this song and deleted each one. Really not sure how i feel about this.
No matter what this band releases people will find ways to shit on it. It's a decent straight forward punk influenced song and I enjoy it.
The song is nothing special, but its the most intrigued I've been about this band in a long time. That's something at least
I look back at New Again now and regard it as a pretty good album. At the time of its release though, I was so disappointed because they changed their style away from the duel vocals and honestly, Adam in my opinion wasn't good enough to lead an album by himself. Then self-titled was released and I really think that album was a disaster. There are some redeeming songs like This is All Now, Call Me in the Morning, Best Places. After that was released, I started going back to New Again and realized, hey, this is pretty good. Swing, Carpathia, Summer Man are great, great songs. I actually was surprised at how much I loved Happiness Is..., I think it's a criminally underrated album. Takes more to get into because it's so different than all their other releases but it's my favorite since Louder Now.
I feel the EXACT same way. New Again is my favorite album of theirs. I think the thing with this band is you can always tell that the guitar player who left the band was the one writing the music. John is much more mature, ballad-y type, fred was the ROCK guy, and matt was the funk/groove guy. I like funk/groove the best. I'll still check this out, but that song doesn't do much for me.
Personally I'm not a fan of the new song. I really loved Happiness Is.... and I was hoping it would be in that vein. Regardless, I'm just glad they're still around and doing something different, even if I don't particularity like it.
Hell yes! One of my favorite bands. This song is a grower but I am sure I will come to love it. I think that their newest album is always their best, it just takes a while for their fans to come around. I've loved each record as it's come out but I know a lot of fans still want their emo sound. Even though they haven't really made a strict emo record since 2004. I know Adam's quote was a bit dumb but I think he is just sick of all the bullshit that he gets from people about them being a nostalgia band. It must be frustrating to put out a record as great as Happiness Is and then fans go crazy over hearing Cute without the E live for the tenth time.
This was cool, and I love the cover/song titles. They were awesome at the Taste of Chaos tour the other day.
I'm still totally into this happier version of Taking Back Sunday. I'm looking forward to this album a lot.
holy shit, if i didn't know that this was TBS i never would guessed it from a listen alone. Adam's voice is completely different. wild. song itself is okay, i'm not a fan of this style of "punk" so this does nothing for me.
Seen them perform this song live a few weeks ago. I thought it was a strange song for them but I liked it
