Calico was just released on the Switch yesterday if you're into that. In a similar vein, I played some Cascadia last night and it is such a simple and fun game
Didn't check the solo rules yet but the actual game isn't too complicated, you basically either play a card to put your agent somewhere on the board with a symbol that's on the card or your reveal whatever cards are left in your hand after agent action(s) and get whatever is on the bottom of the card, either influence, troops, combat power, etc. after everyone has done all of the agent actions and a reveal action they wish, you then resolve combat and dole out the rewards. A lot of symbols but it's a pretty manageable system and my more novice players grocked the game quicker than most other medium-weight stuff I've brought to the table. That said it was only my first physical play, I'd done it once before digitally, I don't super love it yet but I can see it growing on me. I will say I prefer the game it often gets compared to, Lost Ruins of Arnak.
Anyone get anything cool? I got this little 3-in-1 box set. These three games make up the Harvesting Trilogy, all 9-card solitaire games. Perfectly my vibe.
I don't have a picture but I got my brother a set of dominoes that were shaped like little vinyl records lol
Sitewide New Year's sale on the Game Crafter website, they do a lot of solo stuff so I'm very interested (already bought Iron Helm) but there may be some other stuff people might be into. It's a lot of small box stuff: New Years 2025 Only included two screenshots but are like 4 pages of games
Has anyone in here played BAD COMPANY? I saw it at a store a couple days ago and thought it sounded interesting.
Tonight I played the Lord of the Rings Tricktaking game. If you like The Crew, I think this is even better.
oh, this is coming out soon, or has been released already? I thought it looked pretty fun. Did my first play of Warp's Edge tonight, that game rules
i'm obsessed with Space Base, and i read a review saying "this is like party game Space Base" so that obviously piqued my interest haha.
Interesting… not sure Im sure what aspects they’re describing as a party game. my favorite part of Space Base is the upgrading, and Bad Company has much more limited upgrading. But it adds some other fun aspects like a side getaway car board.
I got to play Civilization: A New Dawn last night, been wanting to play since it released in 2017. Lived up to expectations, good game. Only played 2P, so will be interesting to see how to changes at 3/4P.
I dusted off Android: Netrunner for the first time in over a decade and had a really great time with it. It really gave me the itch to play it more and explore all of the stuff I missed beyond the starter set. Also played The Vale of Eternity, which is a solid little drafting game with a fun Pokémon-esque theme.
Netrunner is so sick, costly to try to pick up the old expansions since the game is long defunct; but there are one or two fan projects that are going with PnP/Sets to order.
Yeah, some of my friends started playing on Tabletop Simulator and there's a browser-based version as well. Nothing beats playing with physical cards for me, though.
