sale is live, they discount 10 games and add 10 more games every hour Splendor and Flamecraft are discounted in the first drop if you're into that
My friend has Flamecraft, it's nice I have the standard Doomlings, it's simple enough for more casual gatherings but idk what the expansions consist of I also already have every Villainous expansion or else I'd jump on those Lorcana on sale but I've mostly been buying singles bc what I'm looking for is pretty specific (basically all the princesses and Anna/Elsa) Didn't really recognize anything else there. Will refresh periodically I guess
all items are listed and sale expires in like 7 hours. I won't be getting anything but good prices on Azul, Honey Buzz, and a few Tiny Epic games
PAX Unplugged has been great. I got so many cool looking card games. Also I’m like 90% sure I saw the keyboardist from Motion City Soundtrack walking around. and apparently one of the guys from La Dispute writes his own goth-punk-vampire TTRPG books.
I really want to go to an Unplugged or BGG con, the latter would be easier since it's in Dallas at least
There's a little con they hold in San Antonio every so often called Flingcon but it's $35 just to go to the bazaar (which I know is cheap compared to big conventions) but I don't want to spend money just to look at games I might not even buy
what's everyone have on their list for xmas? My wife keeps asking me for a list and I can't decide Slay the Spire apparently is a really good adaptation of the videogame but I haven't even played that, looks fun tho
I have friends that love Slay the Spire, but I haven’t tried it yet. some games I’m looking forward to this month(that I haven’t played): Everdell Duo - Starling Games Beebop - Bitewing Games Lets Go to Japan - AEG Bomb Busters - Pegasus Ooh. Have you tried Fox Experiment? It’s from the designer of Wingspan, and I think it’s great. One of my favorites from last year.
I haven't! From what I've heard it seems to be a bit heavier than Wingspan, though BGG doesn't reflect this. She did another game called Undergrove about mushrooms and I want to check that one out. I'm in my cozy/nature/woodland creatures era rn
I’m hoping to get Undergrove soon. It saw it at PAX and it looks good. Have you played Cascadia? That’ll fit perfectly.
I own it! I need to break it out more. Also very keen on Harmonies, that seems right up the same alley
Tonight, we finally play Lords of Vegas. I've been wanting to try this for years but it's always been OOP
Forgot to post about it.. game was very solid, I'm also an idiot so I bought the 2 expansion boxes and the con cards so I'm eager to play that with an expansion or two at some point. Also totally see how people say it's the Monopoly replacement, managing your casinos and getting money/score every turn is very satisfying, also whT a fun trading system!!! So cool you could trade actions on your turn to other people. (I won )
Today's games were Bus, Canvas and The Vale of Eternity. First time with the first two, Bus was fun but definitely didn't scratch the same itch that Food Chain Magnate does. Canvas was cute, good filler game potential there. Vale of Eternity is a consistently solid 7.0/10.
Vale of Eternity has been on mg list to try. But it’s eluded me thus far. I like Canvas. Can’t say I’ve ever been interested in Bus, but I’d probably try it.
Doing a pivot from pretty/natural/woodland themed games (Wingspan, Everdell, Meadow) to wanting to try a quick and light dungeon crawler. Sometimes I just want to roll dice and go on a quest for an hour, you know?
Bus is cool in that everyone only gets 20 action tokens in a game and outside of using 2 per turn, you can use as many as you want and once you're out, you're out. It's another splitter game which is why I brought up FCM, I had a hard time of getting a strategy figured out but it only took us an hour (the box suggests 2 hours and I assume that might be at 4 or 5)
I tried Bomb Busters this week. It’s a coop deduction game. My wife had a hard time with it, so I’ll have to try it with some other people soon. it seems like a cool one and I love deduction games.
We played Dune Imperium for our weekday game this week. I came in second, had the chance to win the game in an earlier round before someone stole the Fremen Alliance from me
