I haven't played United yet, I'm not even particularly a big Marvel fan, but I think Champions might be the best co-op experience I've had in boardgames so far and we've only really touched rhino, I already have a half dozen of the expansion sets and another 8 or so standalone hero packs, shit is so good! I'll have to give United a try sometime
Played Food Chain Magnate for a third time, quickly approaching favorite board game of all time territory.. I still got slapped down but God, what a game! I thought I had second wrapped up but the last place dude swung a major marketing campaign and sold 450 bucks worth of food in a turn, ending the game. Never seen such a wild swing
Also played Scout which is solid as always, and River Valley Glassworks which is a game I'm feeling a bit bad about kickstarting, looks pretty but there really isn't much to it and idk if it'll develop much of a strategic layer. I also have some colorblind players I often play with and no way that works with them since even I was struggling with telling a few of the color stones apart.
I’m still awaiting my copy of River Valley Glassworks. I’m convinced my copy is the last one leaving the warehouse. I’ve played it a bunch on BGA, and I really like it. It gives me gateway game vibes like Azul. I went away for the weekend with some guys. We played 3 games of Space Base and 2 games of Power Grid. Among some other games.
I think Azul is much better but that has the benefit of being a game I've played many times before and it being generally a bit longer makes choices feel more substantive. I think my biggest criticism is that It's a lot easier to follow what your opponent might want and weigh if you should block it in Azul, whereas In River Glass I'm just throwing my hands up and taking care of my own board. I will give it that it actually played in <20 minutes at 3, so we got two quick plays in.
picked up Everdell on sale for $45 yesterday from Target!! will probably never see a better price on it
This looks like it could be fun as shit to throw on to change up game night once in a while. Basically a tabletop rpg but couch co-op and you play on your phones like jackbox party.
I finally played Horrified Greek Monsters with a team of three against two monsters, the start was rough but once we got into the rhythm of things it was pretty fun!! i don't have Universal Monsters yet but I'm interested to see how American Monsters compares.
This game looks pretty fun. Girls vs Ghouls. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...YpbJ9iCxlgxEd-ZTxw_aem_s_jVLVaQOIKoK4TAEtAW_A
Got a 4 player game of Lost Ruins of Arnak in last night, it took us almost 2 hours and 30 minutes, but everyone seemed to be engaged and had a blast, so that's pretty impressive. I didn't remember just how good most of the items/artifacts seem to be in the game and that the really open the possibility space on any given turn.
Only played that one once, but it was pretty fun. I do remember there being a lot of stuff to keep track of (I'm bad at math)
I need to play Arnak again. I enjoy it, but only play a buddy’s copy and he hasn’t brought it around in a while.
I combined a few target sales, deals, and free gift cards to get the Lorcana starter pack for essentially ten bucks. I fear this might snowball into spending a lot more. At this point tho I'm not sure if I want to actually play or just collect my fave characters haha
oh noooooooooo It's a great game actually. I got in right at the beginning and got out super fast because the stock was nonexistent and the scalping was insane. A year later, and stock is everywhere. Not me being impatient and jumping ship from yet another TCG lol I've been tempted to get the 2-player starter thing just to have on hand for casual play. It really is a well designed game. And yeah, kinda wild having Piglet and Hercules and Elsa all fighting next to each other lol
My FLGS is going double rewards all weekend so I picked up Bomb Squad and Cities. I’m going to PAX Unplugged next weekend so I’ll get a bunch of games there. Gamenerdz seems to have some decent sales going on. They have some Unmatched sets I was looking at for good prices.
B&N has their usual buy one get one half off black friday deal (in store only). on the other hand, Target pretty frequently has buy two get one free on toys (incl. board games), but currently it's movies, books, and music
For fans of Azul, River Valley Glassworks at Target is suuuuper good. Easily one of my top 10 of the year.
apparently gonna be a big Cyber Monday sale tomorrow on Miniature Market https://www.miniaturemarket.com/cyb...34v6lVnr9qhYqA7Xr6X_uAIo6k3GrlSTYNuX-w.XUDuYx
