The biggest rules mess up I remember is when my old boardgame group was playing Mansions of Madness and after we JUST BARELY failed the scenario we found out that move actions let you move 2 spaces whereas we were only doing 1. They still don't let the host live it down lol
I’ve had my eye on this game but don’t know anything about it other than it seems pricey and a bit daunting. sell me on it. Also, is it good for 1-2 players?
It's been awhile but we played it with 4, I imagine it's good with 1-2 especially if you kinda want a mystery Lovecraft game, it actually plays pretty smooth and uses an app now so it handles the bulk of rules complications. There's some combat but your mostly just exploring and solving puzzles. I don't super love it but I'd say it's still pretty solid and accessible, and would play it again if someone brought it to the table.
decided to play again after that high from beating him…and got totally annihilated by Geppetto and his fucking puppets
I cannot for the life of me defeat Geppetto and his murder puppets. Thought I had him tonight and had him down to 2 health but alas
First Wyrmspan game tonight on solo mode vs the Automa. I didn't buy it to play solo but my BIL is out of town and he's my gaming buddy. Fun game, a whole lot going on. Probably played it wrong, but I loved the flow of it - for sure not just a reskin of Wingspan
It is but I am obsessed! My wife is giving me shit for constantly watching playthroughs to figure out tips and tricks lol
Finally fucking beat Geppetto(but not his puppets)!! Thought I lost at first but after looking up role clarifications I think I actually pulled out the win!
Think I'm gonna try to play another game of Camel Up at the boardgame bar this weekend with some friends, liked it the first time I played it but the Crazy Camels never really came into play, at the very least it's fun to look at.
My copy of Xenolanguage arrived and it is beautiful. So excited to play. It's been over three years since it successfully funded so I kept forgetting about it; having it in hand is wild.
played my first game of Everdell! Been wanting to try that one for awhile. Way less complicated than I thought it would be, but there are like 6 expansions so it probably opens up a lot more
First multiplayer game of Wyrmspan (just me and the BIL). I literally won by 3 points all because he took an action that ended up giving me a final action in the final round (when I was already done with all my actions), which allowed me to play a 6 point dragon that also tied me with him for the 4th round objective, and we both got 7 points instead of him getting 7 and me getting 4. I ending up winning by 3 thanks to his final action, which netted me 9 points, when I would have lost by 3 points had he not given me that final action. I'm sure that makes sense to no one but it was an awesome game
Today's board game was Modern Art! It was the first time any of us have played it and it was really easy to pick up and quick, outside of having to occasionally refer to the auction icons it just moves. Really lovely, my first Knizia game, eager to try more from him!
Got a game of The Vale of Eternity in with some folks on the Waypoint discord, seems pretty promising, Race for the Galaxy with a better drafting mechanic and cleaner iconic/card text, though it can be oddly meaner given the art style. Just in time for my physical copy to come in.
Going on a flight tomorrow and I'm happy about the size of For Northwood, I can totally play it on the little tray attached to the seats lol
I've been lurking this thread for awhile since I've wanted to get into tabletop for a bit and finally moved within distance of a place with a free games night on Fridays. finally got around to playing Wingspan last week and it was so much fun! I beat my friend who is vastly better at games than me by like 5 points in the final round, was down to the wire definitely gonna try out whatever games you guys like in the future
