Forgot to mention but I imported my first board game last week, a Pokemon version of Splendor from Korea. I realized I threw out the insert in my original game, I guess because it didn't fit sleeved cards? Thankfully this one does.
The four primary differences are; There are no longer noble tiles, There are Pokemon evolutions which let you upgrade to a second or third evo Pokemon for cheaper than it'd be to buy them outright, there are two additional rows for Rare and Legendary pokemon and you play to a score of 18. Excited to try it this weekend
Oh snap. I didn't know there were rules changes. I thought it was just a re-skin. That's really dope.
Today's played games. Enjoyed everything aside from UNO Ultimate, which, even as a UNO guy, I think is a really terrible iteration of the game, though I've only played it at 2 so far which is not the best way to play UNO in general. Arboretum and That's Pretty Clever! were first time plays I was really impressed with.
Pretty Clever had a really great app, if you want to get hooked. lol roll through the ages is such a classic
Wife bought me the core box of Final Girl for my birthday. Any recommendations for which feature film(s) to start with?
Tried Frosthaven after someone at the boardgame bar Facebook group offered to teach it. We ended up losing but it wasn't as intimidating as I thought it'd be, and I still think the combat system in these games is sublime
Lucidity arrived, tried it with the friends, a little hard to explain the rules but pretty smooth once we got the hang of it. Love the artwork
The games have been flowing this weekend! Last night I went to a meetup on the southside and played 3 new trick-taking games: Fruitoplay, Mori, and Lunar. Then a new KS that just came in, French Quarter (from the Fleet the Dice Game people). Then tonight we played a few at a buddy’s house: Lunar, Bacon, NMBR9, and Catan (which I haven’t played in yeeeaasrrrsss). Edit: I also forgot that I got an order from Buttonshy in and played two of the three games I got from them. River Mild is a solo puzzle game that’s just okay for me. And Championship Track and Field was such a cool 2-player game.
I just picked up Fleet The Dice Game after hearing I might like it since I'm so high on Roll Through The Ages, what's French Quarter like?
Fleet is so good! French Quarter has you drafting dice that correspond to some actions, then you move up on some tracks and move around the city grid of New Orleans. The whole series of games is about combo-ing and chaining actions, so there’s plenty of that too.
I've been eyeing this one for awhile since I've recently gotten into solo games. Let me know how it is when you break it open!
this was fun and I imagine it’s pretty crazy with more than two people. Hard to plan ahead because you have no idea what moves your opponent will make.
Got myself a copy ordered as well as the resource pack. Chipped in for the sub too because I might want to pickup some promos and expansions later this year
Stoked for it. I also picked up Beacon Patrol, a solo or multiplayer co-op game where you navigate your ship through the sea to score points for lighthouses and buoys. Turns out I really like solo-able cozy tile-laying puzzle game! Beacon Patrol
Beacon Patrol is great. I didn't enjoy it solo very much, though. It was great with 2 players. The artwork is striking. Love it!
