F2F is a straight up pop-punk song hahah we don't deserve this. absolute banger

 

Kinda bummed, this album is SO overstuffed, it doesn't really feel like a cohesive project as much as like.... "here's a collection of all the songs I've made over the last few years." There's a lot of GREAT STUFF here, but more just OK stuff. What made CTRL so good is that a majority of the songs are 9s and 10s, this is a lot of 7s

It's a good album but I don't feel wowed by it on first listen

 

Really did not want to be the guy posting negatively about my anticipation for a record after basically begging for it for years, but yeah the track list length had me thinking this might be the case. Still look forward to hearing some hooks but I won’t be expecting another instant classic

 

I think the longest album I even liked this year was the Beyoncé one but that was only 16 tracks and I made a comment it could be cut down to like 54 minutes.

 

The Big Thief album is solid all the way through and it's very long. Y'all have me scared to check this out tonight!

"F2F" is powerfully not for me but I imagine it will be widely beloved

overall consistency/quality level seems pretty similar to the last album? definitely more fragmented and a bit looser which is no bad thing. "notice me" -> "ghost" a very nice little run

 

I could certainly do without some of the acousticy tracks, the Travis Scott one is especially bad but I love everything else here tbh

 

Seek and Destroy is incredible

 

This album is very very good

 

There is good stuff here for sure. Those first few songs really come out of the gate strong especially. Snooze is cool. Smoking On My Ex Pack fucking rules

When Phoebe and SZA basically dominated indie music coverage in 2017, I couldn’t have guessed they’d do a song together five years later & that it’d work so well, but here we are

I had to throw in the towel after Nobody Gets Me but I’ll get to the rest tomorrow

Listened to this during my workout/morning commute

album is fucking dope, I keep going back to gone girl

 

A couple songs in on my first listen. Really great so far. Some of it is actually reminding me of Kali Uchis
