My suspicion is the band will break up, for good, within the next few years. It's remarkable they're still together, but I think they will go down the Slayer route and do a farewell tour at some point (and probably, liek Slayer, reunite a few years later to play some festivals). There's only so long you can keep playing the same 5 albums, they're getting older, John continues to be a douchebag...

That said while writing this post I realised Mezmerize/Hypnotize is ripe for a 20th anniversary tour next year.

Apparently the new Serj track was originally written for System many years ago.

So enjoy that I guess.

 

Nothing says "I don't want to perform with my old band" more than taking a song you wrote for that band (who you still perform with) and just doing it solo.

100% this would be more interesting as an SOAD song. The drums sound dead on it.

Just finished Serj's book and it's one of the better rockstar autobiographies I've ever read. He is a super passionate guy and it's clear he and the other 3 members have had different priorities since essentially day one. It makes me feel lucky we got as much music out of them as we have because when SOAD hits, they HIT. I'm glad he loves Steal This Album! as much as I do. Gun to my head, that's their best singular collection of songs.

25 year Toxicity tour coming up in 2026? Would be weird to announce that now so……could it be?

or I guess maybe just announcing a tour for this year since they’ve been announcing some shows lately

 

Don't think it has to do with those albums but my brain can't handle the fact Mesmerize / Hypnotize turn 20 in 2025 anyway
