This is shaping up to be the bands best album in at least 15 years. I think both songs might be better than anything they've put out since Vice Verses.
Yeah these new songs rule. All the best SF songs need big crunchy guitars. Most I've dug this band since maybe Vice Verses.
Anyone had a chance to hear the new record yet? From what I can gather, it seems to be their best since VV
For those who are more techsavvy the album is already out there. What a wonderful 46 minutes this was. It definitely matches the HH/VV energy that has been missing from the last few releases, though I do adore Interrobang for its change of pace. This one will be on repeat allll summeerrrrr.
Yeah, best since Vice Verses for sure. Probably best since Hello Hurricane. Whoever told them to just make the guitars extremely loud deserves a medal.
So stoked. Listening through their whole discography and that run from The Beautiful Letdown to Vice Verses really is something else. TBL and Nothing is Sound are still fantastic. I don't know why the latter never gets its flowers outside the fanbase.
happy release date! Definitely the guitars are one of the stronger aspects of the album. This record feels like a great summer release for sure.
Really enjoying this. I wonder if the production isn't holding it back a bit? The drums on the bridge on Shake the Dust could really use some more punch, for example, although I can appreciate the stylistic choice. More than a few of these songs will rip live. So far, I think the only thing I'm not liking all that much is Jon's vocal styling on the opener and closer, although he's been flirting with rapping his lyrics a bit for years. Just not my favorite delivery of his, but all told this is a great record, and definitely their best in a long time.
Really enjoying this. I love how the last track calls back to the opener. I like Absolution the best out of all of the songs, but there are several really good tracks here. It's so good to hear these guys rocking again.
Liked this a good amount on first listen. Still some lyrics I don't care for, but the guitars rock and the band sounds energized in a way they haven't in years.
I really like the front half vs the back half. The rap singing kills me, especially the triplet cadence that’s so popular. lots of fun stuff on here but a lot of interesting choices as well. Like I said though, front half rips.
I wish there was a proper ballad and a less abrupt ending, but first listen this is pretty easily the best thing they've put out in at least 15 years.
This album rules. It's the only Switchoot album in 14 years that has made me wanted to listen to it again after it finished.
Feeling about the same, although I've really enjoyed their Edge of the Earth EP lately. But in between, it's been a long drought.
