Not gonna listen until I'm more in the mood for the season, but curious to see what they've done with it.

Same! I cant bring myself to get excited for Christmas for at least a few more weeks. Looking forward to playing this around the house though!

Not the whole thing in it's entirety - but have checked out several songs. I think they sound great - warm and mostly true to the originals but you can hear a bit of the age/progression in Jon's voice - which I certainly think has it's own charm. Love this band.

  7. I was just bouncing around to my favorites too. The updated lyrics at the end of "Gone" definitely threw me off, and the differences in the mix and performances really stand out since I know the original so well. I agree that it sounds pretty good, but I also doubt I'll ever put it on over the original.

The boys did a fun little interview with setlist.fm talking about the beautiful letdown era. Can't wait to see them on this tour.

    I do not exist.

I’m really intrigued to hear this deluxe re-record of The Beautiful Letdown where they’ve got lots of other artists to record songs from the album too. Just a great concept.

  10. They got a lot of big names for that. Cool to see how wide the influence of that album is.

I can just imagine how good Noah Gundersen sounds doing “This Is Your Life” but I haven’t really engaged with his music at all since the allegations.

Yeah that feature I feel conflicted on.

Most excited to hear what Relient K have put together. I always love Sleeping at Last too.

I'm not usually a fan of cover albums but this is a super interesting collection of artists. Can't wait.

For those playing catch up this is being released 9/15.

Reviving this thread to say In Bloom might be my favorite release Jon has ever been part of. Easily my favorite solo venture and I really like The Wonderlands.

The boys are in Nashville to start recording record number 13. First one in 5 years! Sooooo stoked.

It’s technically only ~4 years - interrobang came out in 2021!

Finally got an album announcement! New album Forever Now releasing 6/26, with the first single Wake Up, Mr. Crow dropping on 3/27. There’s some speculation online that this may be a spiritual successor to Vice Verses since the last lyrics on that album are Forever Now.

  17. Interrobang was their best in a long time, so I'm excited for something new. Vice Verses connection does nothing for me though - that's the album where I really felt like they lost it.

new single is the shot of adrenaline they've desperately needed in a while, holy shit.

they were my favorite band as a kid, but i felt like i outgrew a lot of their stuff after leaving Evangelical Christianity over a decade ago, so nothing they've released has resonated with me in a long time (and realistically only TBL and NIS even come close to working for me nowadays, i say as i spot the collectors editions of Hello Hurricane and Vice Verses sitting on the bookshelf above my desk). this takes me back 20 years when i popped in my copy of NIS for the first time.

This is the most I’ve liked a new Switchfoot song in a long time. A lot of cool stuff going on.

New song is excellent. I tried Interrobang again yesterday and I have no idea what fever dream they were in when they made it. It’s like they had ideas for melodies and consciously decided to do the opposite in most of the songs. Each time I heard what sounded like a decent melody forming, the chords switch to something random and it’s just…meh. Glad they got it out of their system, I guess each band needs a black sheep album.

Never a fan of the rap singing but I like the song a lot.
I'm probably in the minority that actually really enjoys interrobang, mainly bc of those key changes and shifts and atonal stuff. But I'm a fan of lots of jazz so the weirdness got to me, I guess. Maybe it sounded more diy too which I liked.

Put on a few of their older albums yesterday and I feel like the new single is more in line with a trajectory that continues off VV or parts of HH. They lost me with FW and NT and while WTLST was more "natural inst" sounding, it still had some of those "let's play these songs in an arena" feel that I don't love. Like the anthemy type songs.

Ordered the vinyl in hopes I'll dig it. There was really no telling what kind of record they'd make after interrobang so I'm curious what flavors come from that or if they'll have a song on there like Who We Are lol

I read on the discord that at least 3 interrobang songs that didn't make it are on this one, at least in title, so we'll see

3 leftover Interrobang songs?? The title track to that record didn’t even make the full-length cut. Not thrilled about this, unless they reworked them to be exceptionally better. Gonna hold off preordering, in case they pull a fast one.
