I watched the whole thing in basically one sitting. I really enjoyed it, it basically felt like a whole season of one of those short film episodes of Atlanta. Good, relevant story (though I agree I'm not sure how I felt about the ending), beautiful cinematography and the acting is amazing I noticed that Malia Obama was credited as Malia Ann for the episode she wrote
Yeah she was incredibly natural, I actually didn't even realize it was her at first until they showed her close up
Billie and Paris Jackson are both kind of insanely good in this. I didn't even realise who the latter was till I googled it lmao
Best killer catchphrase for sure. Also a common question that I ask people a lot, so I have some personal reflection to do
Dominique (incredible overall, deserves a nomination for real) and Billie are so good in that first EU scene. EDIT:
I didn't either at first but once I realized how actually essential it is to the show I was pretty mind blown If I interpreted it right, we've been watching a dramatic adaptation of "real events" made by in-universe Donald Glover, which is why the characters look different in that episode and why some details are changed between that episode (the "real" events) and the rest of the show (the "dramatization"), such as Marissa's father being alive Also explains the ending; the true crime episode says that Dre got arrested after going onstage but the actual last episode is much more vague
episode 6 is kind of where this lost me too. I feel like it kind of broke the show and not in a fun way, more like it just killed the momentum and I was a lot less interested in that version of the story than what we'd been following up to that point. honestly the end of episode 5 was super haunting and a much stronger end than 7 imo
What?! I loved it all. I thought ep 6 gave it a good dose of “reality” while also telling us more of the details about the characters and why they had not been caught. Ep 6 is the ending of the story from an objective point of view and episode 7 is the ending from Dre’s incredibly distorted perspective.
