47 days total. They air three episodes per week typically, but this last week was only two episodes. There’s just an insane wealth of content on the Australian version that we never get on the American version.
Ahh, thanks for that. This is the gold standard for me now. US survivor should go back to the basics with regards to the idols and twists. It's hard to explain for me, even the music is different between the two versions which alters the mood and viewing experience. Australian seems to be focused more in strategy and the social aspect, I don't know why. It's crazy, I disliked George in the beginning but the more I watched I became a fan. I think it was the first tribal when he and Simon went at it, I saw him in a different light and saw how great he's playing this game.
Sorry in advance for talking about a super old season while a current season airs! Rewatching season 20 Heroes vs Villains. I first watched this season after watching only like 4-5 other seasons since this one constantly gets rated as one of the best so I knew I wasn’t getting the full understanding since some of the players I had not seen before. Watching it now - holy god I do not understand how JT won his season - and win it without even getting a single vote all season! Him and Stephen were very much the absolute perfect pairing for each other along with a very bizarre cast that seemed to immediately love and worship JT. JT talking about how OBVIOUSLY there is a woman alliance after Boston Rob got voted out is hilarious in real time and on repeat viewing. And mouthing “hang in there!” to Russell and giving him an idol is idiotic to a whole new level - although I believe reading that the players didn’t get to see Russell’s season since he joined right after season 19 finished filming, but that Jeff told them he was one of the biggest villains the show had ever seen. On top of, you know, being on the villains tribe, which should at least cause you to pause if that’s someone you need to help lol
Australian: I'm bummed I'm witnessing and about to end some of the finest TV ever. Phenomenal. US: Switch twist was fun and Carolyn is a goddamn national treasure.
Australian finale: I really don't even care now that George is gone haha. Mattie and Liz is a tossup, they're both comp beasts and Liz has SOME sense of urgency. Matt I feel didn't come in his own until the end. Gerry, well it's Gerry. Love the old guy but he was George's (and everyone else's) shield. Bahahahahahahaha George's jury question. Yeah Matt bumbling on the answer is gonna seal Liz as the winner. Edit: yeah the next best person AFTER King George won.
Just finished up season 42. Really enjoyed the season and really enjoyed the full cast, lots of folks that could/should be back on future seasons. Not sure if Jeff kept it up the entire season but a super tiny nitpick I have is Jeff saying “2nd person voted out”, “3rd person voted out” when they were actually 1st and 2nd person since the first person that left was a medical removal, not a vote (and usually I don’t notice those kind of things). Majority of the tribal councils were sooo odd and quirky with how ok most of the people being voted out were. Hugs, laughs, smiles, etc. not rare to see that most of the time but that was like how 3/4 of the participants went out
Could probably find the answer on YouTube or a Google search but I always wonder how the order of the questions from final tribal are decided. I always assumed it would start with the old jury member and go that way but it never does, they just bounce all over but it must be decided ahead of time since no one ever looks shocked when Jeff says who’s turn is up.
Incredible season of television. Has to be one of, if not the best season of Survivor ever. I’ll be watching every Aussie season from this point.
Yeah, I'm a fan, I'm hooked. Even the host Jonathan was fun to watch. 10/10 season, it was firing on ALLLL cylinders. Thanks for the suggestion to watch!
Watching season 1 for the first time in maybe 2-3 years? And only the second time I’ve watched the season as I only got into Survivor a few years ago and basically binged all 35ish seasons available at the time. All shows need to grow and adapt to stay relevant and Survivor has done that and I’m pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and different season 1 is. Of course it looks old as shit and has some super cringy spots and wild/funny to see young Jeff (will have to Wikipedia him, not sure if he did anything before Survivor on TV) and I did like how much more brutal the survivor aspect was. Some of the challenges are hilarious for the first almost like 15-20 seasons (“stand here for a long time”, “eat a bug”, etc.) before it kind of adapted more challenges along the lines of The Challenge and other shows.
I disagree, I like this cast a lot. They’re all over the place in a good way. Giving half of them immunity tonight was dumb though.
There was way too many advantages last night. The control a vote should have been secret, or have been revealed after the vote.
they gotta put more thought into these twists if they’re gunna try to do that much at once. making her say who she’s voting for publicly/before everyone else was so dumb.
I saw the reasoning for the public vote as giving Matt and Yam Yam the heads up to vote together and try to get out Lauren if Heidi chose to stick with them.
correct, in theory the "saying it out loud" part is so that the holder of the power can help guide other votes
Wouldn't it make for better TV if the person went up to vote and the scroll revealed that their vote had been cast already?
I actually really liked him. He's goofy in an entertaining way (to me at least). As a player though? Awful, haha.
