finishing up season 29 today (Blood vs Water 2) i don't mind this season. some good characters from this. seems like most 'official' reviews found the cast boring, which there certainly isn't an immediate stand out. There's no Tony or Russell or major power alliances but it's still fun. i found myself rooting for Baylor a lot, which surprised me. i found it gut wrenchingly funny when Reed called her a brat and her immediate reaction is: scoff, jaw drop, turn and look at mom to handle it lmao she's 20! handle it yourself woman! Natalie played a great game and made excellent moves at times Jon seems smart yet oh so dumb at times. and i'm pretty sure when he's talking to his girlfriend about why to get Jeremy out he says, "Jeremy would win. firefighter? single dad with kids? come on" - single dad? wasn't his wife on the season with him? i know she got voted out early but damn Jon try and remember 20 days ago lol
This might end up my dumping ground for thoughts on seasons 30-39 so apologies in advance. season 30 (World’s Apart) Only one episode in, but man are there some bad people on this cast. I can already see why people dislike this season for the people already and I’m usually fine with 99% of most casts but this one has like 5-6 people that already irk me the first immunity team idol thing looks like Mr. Peanut’s great grandfather or an ancient nutcracker something lmao
“Worlds Apart” is a rollercoaster. For awhile it kind of sucked because it seemed like the “bad guys” were running the show and I thought the winner (who I knew going into the season in my typical fashion) was gonna be a bad guy all season and lo and behold there was an evil empire inside the bad guy group that has now made the winner a good guy lmao this is crazy I feel like I’m either better at catching the flow of the show now (after 29 seasons oops) or this season is just super easy to see the good and bad
Text from Tony's IG story today: "I am going on vacation for 39 days later today. I will be active for a little, then I won't because I am on vacation."
Hmmmmm that's weird. I gotta think it's not actually for the show because he would be destroyed for breaking the NDA that blatantly, he knows better
100%. I could meta game this by bringing up when he and Jeremy had that conversation about playing being vacation vs work, but I just got a covid vaccine and don't have the energy. He's probably trolling OR he's involved in some way that doesn't involve playing.
The timing also makes no sense for 41 or 42 shooting schedules, I think he's just messing with people
Maybe they trot him out for season 41 to freak them out but he’s not really there to play? Idk. He’s won the most money so that could be a thing. Idk.
They don’t fly everyone out at once. They stagger quarantine. Crew arrives first (in multiple groups), then players come after. https://www.google.com/amp/s/surviv...11/survivor-crews-arriving-seasons-41-42/amp/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/heavy.com/entertainment/survivor/season-41-filming-soon-fiji/amp/
Watching season 31 (Second Chance) and I’m confused by the hidden immunity idol clues... what if the clue was found after the challenge? Is someone swapping out the clues after each challenge? Seems odd to me that the two clues were found before both challenges.
Jeff almost getting obliterated by the wave in episode 4 of Millennials vs Gen X is one of the greatest moments ever lmao
Ten episodes into Millennials vs Gen X and I still cannot see how or why the winner wins and on top of that how they win by the margin they do! Such a crazy season and will be interesting to see how the winner convinces the jury and gets so many on their side
That winner is one that I hated in the moment but once I went back to older seasons I realized it’s not about “winning the game” it’s about convincing the jury for a vote
"winning Survivor" is being the person to get the most votes at the end, and that's what makes the show great. People think that like... winning comps, and having good moves, and blah blah blah is how you "should" win the game, but that's only part of the equation.
On the surface it would seem like winning individual immunity would be a good way to get to the end and win when really the exact opposite is true. Physical threats almost always get eliminated or make themselves get eliminated by winning too many challenges. with that said, if there would be a way to get prime physical challenges all together for one season that would be a lot of fun. Just seeing prime Ozzy, Joe... idk JT? all together in physical challenges would be a blast. my comments for the season 33 winner weren’t based on being surprised they won when they didn’t have the intelligence to win, it was based on seemingly how tight so many other people were with who I knew would be the final two, but the other two definitely stumbled their way to finish line, which definitely helped the winner as well.
Just realizing that Probst has basically lived and been paid to live on amazing islands for 2-3 months a year every year for two decades. Kinda insane and probably would be the answer to the question “what do you want to be when you grow up”.
