It’s the same haircut he has in the comics though. I figured, but yeah David is from Philly actually.
I’m obviously in the bag for this, but like, this looks so fucking good to me. Looking to be basically everything I want it to be. The short tease-of-a-tease yesterday did look washed out in a way that’s not normally to my tastes, but bits of Guardians 3 looked that way, too, and I still loved that movie; it worked fine contextually. And, this better look made me feel confident the same will be true here. Superman in action looks great. The aesthetic in general, with the Daily Planet and Lex, etc., is spot on for what I’d want for a Superman story. Even the sillier looks (Clark’s hair; that Guy Gardner doofus) fit this world to me. Krypto is so charming, and Hawkgirl looks ready to fuck shit up. I’m already tired of lazy “hope” talk, lol, but hey… it’s not a “big 2” superhero property unless most of the conversations around it are really dumb. I’m just glad it seems so far like a cool bit of genre storytelling that isn’t scared to embrace the whole picture of Superman.
I remember “The Suicide Squad” looking very washed out too. But that also was great, so it’s easy to forgive. Gunn’s movies just aren’t pinnacles of cinematography or lighting.
Haven’t been a huge fan of any of Gunn’s work outside of Guardians, but this looks great. Nice to see Superman actually be Superman finally and am very excited to see the lesser known heroes get some spotlight.
I think it’s pretty fair to say that both embracing everything that makes Superman historically compelling for good genre tales, and allowing stories that prod at and twist it, are good if done well. And that it doesn’t have to be this nonsensical war between shallow superhero fandom takes, lol.
I’ve become deeply cynical about superhero slop nowadays but this looks awesome. Fitting for a Superman movie to be the one to give me hope
This 2 minute trailer felt more like Superman than the entirety of the DCEU Superman stuff did. That’s all that matters to me
