Fucking loved this. Best superhero movie I've seen in a few years. I was just smiling ear to ear through so much of it
I just want to be back in this world. the casualness of the people of metropolis is great. When Guy makes a construct to just beat the eye of the Kaiju and it shows a citizen just looking mildly disgusted, that was great.
Loved the green baseball bat bopping the monster in the background of the Superman-Lois apartment scene
I love that YouTube nerd people saw that brief clip of that in the trailer and did all kinds of research into the lore of that monster from the comics thinking it was a part of the endgame just for it to amount to a background gag lol
Just got home from the cinema after watching this.. yeah I fucking loved it!! Bring on the rest of the DCU!!
We loved it as well. About as good as you can possibly make a Superman movie. High praise from these guys!
Man, Krypto was a lot of fun in this. He was a little monster lmao. I like that we saw so many trailers of him saving Clark at the beginning of the movie, but never the part about him just body slamming his mangled body. I was laughing pretty hard. End of the movie made me very excited for the Supergirl movie
I really wanted it to be Solaris because Morrison and am still rooting for Solaris down the road. But, I also like it just being another throwaway threat, as a backdrop to the Lois & Clark conversation. A real mission statement scene in regards to the fantastical world just existing and being taken for granted, as the colorful context for the actual character-driven story to take place.
Wonder how everyone who loves Krypto responds to the Supergirl movie (depending on how it approaches the material it’s adapting).
I am waiting for the "300 years ago. 3 decades ago. 3 weeks ago. 3 hours ago. 3 minutes ago" cold open to become a new meme format.
Is this the first Superman adaptation that show Clark's birth parents to basically be Viltrumites who want him to conquer earth? IDK that I loved that, but it did serve the plot well
Btw, was the pocket dimension basically Bizzaroworld, with Ultraman being Bizarro himself? That was neat.
My Adventures with Superman has it as a plot point too if memory serves. There’s some comic arcs with Krypton being pretty evil too but I forgot which ones.
Man, when we got to the scene where we saw the border battle about to kick off, and that guitar lick of the Superman theme kicked in (the one from the initial trailer), I literally got full-body goosebumps/chills. So effing epic
Now I can't decide if David and Rachel are the best on screen Superman and Lois, or Tyler and Elizabeth
Not to be nostalgia brained, but Kidder and Reeves are still the best Lois and Clark. What they had was magical. Brosnahan and Corenswet were excellent, though, and the best I can imagine their dynamic onscreen in 2025.
That's fair! I haven't watched those since I was a little kid. I just think the cheesiness and old VFX would pull me out of it too much watching it in 2025.
Starting this cinematic universe landing (figuratively and literally) us smack dab in the middle of a well established superhero universe instead of building one from scratch was a good call.
