I would imagine at WB they are debating this every day. It's hard to justify introducing ANOTHER Batman movie while the Pattinson universe has been very well received. It would probably go over better if they introduce the DCU Batman in a teamup movie and test the waters from there
I'm in the minority that thought The Batman was just fine so ya don't care if he joins this universe.
I liked The Batman but did not love it. Was kinda slow and boring at times. Still vastly prefer TDK. Genuinely was more engaged in The Penguin show than The Batman haha.
Funny to see this “is Pattinson the Batman of the James Gunn universe” talk continue. There’s nothing about that movie that makes it incapable of existing alongside this, but it would change the calculus going forward. And, it’s pretty clear from what everyone says that Reeves and company wanna tell their own contained, finite Batman story, and Gunn supports that and has a different vision for his universe’s Batman. Obviously I don’t trust WB, lol. But, until they step in to fuck with these guys’ plans, they’re obviously separate things.
I know I’ll probably get a lot of flack for this, but I think I’d probably rate this about the same as Man of Steel. There’s a lot I like about both, but also some issues I have with both. Obviously they’re on totally opposite sides of the “tone” spectrum, but I think both do a solid introductory job for their respective universes. The real litmus test for me is in how they follow them up. With Man of Steel, WB was clearly in a rush to play catch up with Marvel without a real plan, and the universe suffered because of it. But with Superman (2025), Gunn clearly has a vision/plan for the universe and I have much more faith in the success and my continued enjoyment of this iteration.
The social media marketing for this has been incredible. They all seem to really like each other and are getting in on the trends the kids like while they’re still popular. Fantastic job.
As Pen said (you can't see it), Jimmy Olsen has a long history of his own spinoff comedy comics and they worked. His first comic ran for 20 years with over a 150 issues. They revived it for a limited series a few times in recent years.
None of this is new information to me. Sorry. I’m basing my opinion on the character we got in the movie, not all comics that ever existed.
Can't decide if I want to show up on time for this or like.. 30 minutes late. Regal ads are getting out of hand haha
I liked this. Superman actually felt and acted like Superman. Enjoyed Green Lantern and Hawkgirl’s small roles too. My biggest complaint would be that I wish it focused more on Superman and less on the support characters. It felt like a Superman film the same way Captain America: Civil War felt like a Captain America film. I’d like to see more focus on Superman in the next film and less help needed from supporting characters. Other than that I thought it was pretty great.
