Unbelievably hyped for this. Still going to try to go in with mid expectations, but I’m so glad we’re getting another run with Superman.
gonna try to catch this monday. i'm sure it won't be flawless but after the gotg trilogy and the suicide squad it's weird that so many are convinced gunn will fumble this one
Isn't that fairly standard?? Even The Bear barred any reviews until several hours after the season dropped and it's one of the best seasons they've made imo
true, but there's already a bunch of critics who've seen it about a week ago. was hoping there'd be more confidence on wb's end
I think there’s a group that wants it to fail for whatever reason. It’s strange and I don’t get it. My default in life is that I want things to be good and fun and enjoyable and something to return to over and over again. The cynicism of my twenties didn’t even reach what I see in some comment sections these days.
I would like it to succeed because if it doesn't, I doubt we get half of what's being promised from this new DC project slate, and I for one would like it to happen.
Just ordered my ticket for Wednesday night Planning on avoiding every bit of early reviews and going in blind
Mortal Kombat II trailer will surely release this week. The Cat in the Hat trailer that released last week. Supergirl is a stretch, but I wouldn’t be super surprised. Other than that, there aren’t really any other WB projects I can think of that overlap with the Superman audience all that much. I'm guessing Tron: Ares trailer 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash teaser will wait to drop with Fantastic Four in a couple weeks seeing as they’re both Disney properties.
Can David Corenswet Save Superman? The result is one of the most distinct superhero films in a long time, with a tone that feels honest and true to the spirit of Superman—and therefore at odds with pretty much everything else in the genre right now. Gunn’s approach is colorful, in both its palette and the costumes; proudly fantastical, with flying orbs, robots, portals, and giant monsters; and at times endearingly, intentionally corny (see: Krypto the super dog). But late in the third act, Superman delivers an impassioned monologue about himself that essentially states Gunn’s thesis about the character and his core values. You won’t find any controversial neck-snapping here. “There are things you have to hit about Superman that are indelible to the character,” Corenswet says. “The things we’re aiming for are the things that are truest and therefore most interesting about Superman, the things that set him apart from other heroes. The fact that he is essentially free from angst and turmoil internally. He’s a good guy who had a great upbringing, loving parents, has wonderful relationships with his friends, and a romantic relationship, and loves what he does. He doesn’t have the Batman thing of having lost his parents early and doesn’t feel the burden of this terrible city that he has to come and save. Metropolis is a wonderful, cosmopolitan almost utopia—it just happens to get invaded by Kaijus and other monsters and whatnot every now and then.”
super pumped for this one but unsure when I'm going to be able to hit the theater for it, so gonna unsubscribe. Hope it's as awesome as it looks!
