I saw a man with a tat on his big fat belly It wiggled around like marmalade jelly It took me a while to catch what it said 'Cause I had to match the rhythm of his belly with my head "Jesus Saves" is what it raved
Finally caught this on Wednesday. It was okay, I guess. Milly was great and I enjoyed her character a lot. Easy to relate to someone who has lost their parents and is still figuring out how to process and live with it all. Actions scene were largely very bad however. Always shot in the dark/shadows, even some of the parts at the end where the sun was shining. I don’t get why they saw the finished scenes and thought it looked good. Baffling. Hope Milly gets to play this role for awhile with a better script and/or director.
The more I think about it, the more I don't mind the narrative changes (Kara's and Krem's respective backstories). If the scenes were presented in sequential order I would've probably liked the film a lot more. Aesthetically I just wish the film was as colorful as the book (and Krem wasn't ugly). I would like to reiterate that as a whole I didn't think the film was bad. It just didn't live up to my admittedly astronomically high expectations. Mayyybe with a female director and a stronger script we could've gotten a better movie. But what we got was perfectly fine.
