Will probably pass on this, living in the UK and being on Wifi will lead to some weird time zone clashes and shite ton of lag lol

i'm not even good enough to consistenctly beat the highest level AI lol

how do you think we should do this? i feel like it's impossible to have everyone in the same time online so I'm thinking something like this.
1. Lock in the # of players joining
2. Setup the brackets (do seeding, etc)
3. Start the first round; 1v1 battles. both players just schedule the match on their own and report the results (post replays if possible, just for fun). We set a deadline for each round (let's say 1 week) so everyone has a chance to finish their matches. If there is a way to spectate the matches (hopefully there's a built in thing for this) and join a discord voice chat (for people who want to watch and talk smack), I'd say go for it.
4. When all the matches are done, we update the bracket and do the next round

as for the match rules, let's all agree on them before the tournament starts. i'd say definitely no items.

As for tourney rules, I'm all for no items the whole way, but to make it more accessible (I don't know the skill level of anyone here), why not just do it sorta like E3? Items up until the semi-finals/finals, and then items off the last 2 rounds.

 

Ill do it, i'm gonna want to practice some haha. I got @LuigiPeppercorn comin at me too.

Yeah I'm totally in. Going to need like a month of practice first though. I won't even come close to trying all the characters for a loooong time.

 

i was just thinking of making the rules the same for every round so no one accidentally sets up a match the wrong way. But having items in for the early rounds sounds reasonable.

I've organized digital tournaments before (but never a Smash one), so I def need help setting up the match rules
