that’s top tier Mark for sure but I would argue Ghosts, April and Benji are up there personally I think Common As Light is up there in a different way and lp1 for jesu/SKM and the LaValle Collab are almost there* *I’m a fanboy tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ocean beach too, and i sorta think old ramon is amazing and underrated prob why i'm not mad that i can't get with his new style, he made enough stuff that i deeply love
IMO he made four perfect records in a row (Blue Guitar, Old Ramon, Ghosts, April) and I don’t think Admiral Fell Promises is too far off either. I agree that it eases the pain of not enjoying his post-Benji material
Haha, I did the same when I moved to Boston. Production on that record is perfect. Underrated within his discog
Thanks! I checked out that Blue Nile record months ago because you listed it as a reference point in the Quiet Friend thread. Needless to say, I love it
new SKM song - amazing Sun Kil Moon: Linda Blair also, his current playlist: Mark Kozelek: What Are You Listening To? bonus: here's a pic of the Koz with Bill Murray!
ahahaha by this point nothing should be (too) surprising really what a wild ride has Mark been and continue to be... really
show tonight was amazing Koz and the musicians he is sorrounded by are on a whole other level moving, sad, joyful, funny and full of love (also full of rants) amazing - see this man live
continuing the interview tradition Actor Aidan Gillen and Musician Mark Kozelek discuss Mark's new Sun Kil Moon album This Is My Dinner.
Only been able to listen once—I feel like I can never put these newer albums on as background music—but I really liked This Is My Dinner. It and the self-titled might be my favorite releases since Benji (maybe).
My friend says it's his favorite Sun Kil Moon album, but I just haven't spent enough time with it. I'm open to being convinced of its greatness. One of these days I'll get to it.
Y'all, i can't bring myself to care about 99% of Koz's pre-Benji music. Some songs click, like 'Carry Me Ohio', but for the most part it all sounds like background music to me. I also don't love a lot of his post-Benji output either, but it at least feels more engaging to me.
