“She asked, "Are you like the real, like the actual, Mark Kozelek?" I said, "Yes, I am that man" She said, "Oh my god, I'm like a really, really big fan" Then she said, "We should totally go to Panera" I replied, "There's a Panera Bread in San Francisco?" She said, "No, there's not a Panera Bread in San Francisco Even if there was, I'd never meet you there anyhow" And someone said, "Actually there is a Panera Bread in San Francisco On Geary and Masonic" And she said, "Well, I was just kidding anyhow" And then suddenly there was an awkward silence” I am dying
he played that live when I saw him - it was amazing, crowd erupted in laughter it's also a really beautiful song
oh Mark Mark Kozelek’s New Song Is About How Ariel Pink Should Be More Famous (And Also Diarrhea) | Pitchfork :)
I finally listened to the double album, and it was a grueling listen. That being said I liked a few songs and “I Love Portugal” is a favorite. Not so sure I’m gonna peep this but who knows
I imagine he’s talking about the new self-titled record that came out yesterday. Which is easily, on first listen, my favorite thing he’s done in a while. I didn’t care much for the collabs he released last year, and the last SKM album is probably one I need to give more time to but is so long and dense that I never really engaged with it. I love the guitar tones and the looping guitar lines on the new album. Every song is just beautiful. And it struck me as a little more focused overall: no more fan letters, for one. Felt good to be so pleasantly surprised by it.
I havnt finished listening to it, I’ve been busy. The second track I enjoyed but track one not so much. Hopefully that track will grow on me.
I’m fine with him not topping [insert yr fav Kozelek album] and don’t expect him to it’s just fascinating following him down this artistic lane :)
