Every year, there's at least one grounds stage lineup that I can't pass up for the price, but between the layout, the crowds, and the ungodly traffic jam getting out at the end of the night, it ends up being a less than enjoyable experience overall. I also wish they would stagger the schedule a little bit more. Every stage having essentially the same time slots has never made sense to me.
MAJOR upgrade coming! U.S. Cellular will build a new, LARGER stage area with increased capacity, a 25-foot LED video screen and more. FM106.1 and iHeartMedia will join the party too! Renovations will be ready for Summerfest 2018. Check out a rendering in 360 virtual reality here: http://bit.ly/2h7wycb
Definitely going to see Tom Petty one of the two nights. Too bad one wasn't on a weekend.
Have they had a headliner do two nights before? I've only been going a few years, but I definitely don't remember seeing that in the past.
Tom Petty is playing Wrigley Field on Thursday, June 29.
Oh nice! Maybe I will do that instead then! Too bad it's during the week though.

I'm just waiting for them to announce the grounds stage lineup. Seems later than usual.
JUST ANNOUNCED: Outlaw Music Festival to play the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Sunday, July 9, featuring Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan and His Band, Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats, Margo Price, and Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real.
Presale April 19 at 10AM. On-sale April 21 at 10AM.
This actually sounds like a lot of fun. Saw Willie at Summerfest last year, and it would be cool to see Bob Dylan (even if he's terrible live now). Nathaniel Rateliff being there kind of seals this as something I'd like to go to.
Definitely seeing Andrew McMahon since he's playing on a Saturday. I'd like to see ADTR but they play on a Thursday (two days before Andrew). I'm seeing Tom Petty at Wrigley otherwise I'd like to see him too.
I'm going to Tom Petty that Thursday. Bummer it's the same day as ADTR. Most likely will go to Bleachers. Still have to check out which days everyone is playing. I'll probably go to a couple days though.
I always dread looking to see which days each band plays after the initial lineup gets released.
Yea summerfest is the most deceptive lineup since pretty much any of the bands on the lineup poster could all just be pitted against each other. Still always have a good time though.
