I dislike Stevo for the absolute pettiest reason and it's mostly because I hate his mustache, even if he drummed on some of my favorite albums smh my head. I just can't look past the stache.
I had heard that Frank was drumming for electric Callboy, but I didn’t know he joined officially! I just got this email newsletter for one of their show pre-sales
Don’t think there’s ever been an official announcement. He’s been in all the promo for all their tours since he was announced as their touring drummer
Does anyone else think it's kinda weird that he broke the band up but keeps showing up with random other bands to play Sum 41 songs live, is starting a clothing line named after a Sum 41 song, and is now apparently putting out an acoustic album of Sum 41 songs?
Full-time touring and playing shows constantly is exhausting, especially for people with health issues. An acoustic album doesn't require pushing your body. Starting a clothing line doesn't take a toll on the body the same way touring in an energetic band does. Joining random one-off shows for a small portion of the set is also not nearly the same as touring and playing an entire set.
I totally get his rationale. While I've obviously never been a touring musician, I have memories of being on travel sports teams in HS and having to be in close quarters with the same people for 5-7 days at a time. We obviously we were staying in nicer accommodations than probably 70% of bands and I still found it annoying as fuck at the end. You multiply that with health problems, missing your family, growing older and not being as nimble, it's gotta be a brutal time even for the acts who get to do it in prime luxury conditions.
I guess from a financial and marketing standpoint, it makes more sense for him to pursue related ventures by taking advantage of Sum 41 as a brand than to start completely from scratch. That's what he's most known for at the end of the day
If I could reinterpret art that young me created that would either be financially or artistically rewarding for older me then I would most certainly do that as much as possible. I'm all in favor of artists staying full time artists for as long as they can.
