Really, really awesome to see. I remember so many of us dunking on him when the pictures came out of him really going through it. Was a different time. Great to see him find joy and success in sobriety.
So happy for him and the band. Ill be interested to see what he talks about in his book when it comes out.
yah i remember seeing them for free in 2011 and they were fucking terrible, i had no idea he was going through it at the time, they were supposed to play warped 2010 and canceled my date probably due to not feeling well so they made it up by doing a free radio sponsored show a year later, it was all the radio singles, no deepcuts and it was BAD. i was so turned off i didn't see em again til 2019. and i only went because the amity affliction was playing with them, so i thought why not, i got back into them after that show, they redeemed themselves!
Yeah i never realized how bad things were for them all around during that period. Must have been a terrible feeling to be doing so poorly with show attendance for a band like them. And the SBM making of documentary is probably only the tip of the iceberg for deryck’s personal issues at the time.
i didn't watch that, didn't even know it existed, i just ignored them through that era, i didn't care for that album and i just fell off. fake my own death/13 voices got me back into them hard. its wonderful that deryck is doing so much better now.
