BTW, does anyone have the tea between their fallout with Greg Nori (singer from Treble Charger)? Noticed he used to be credited as a songwriter and has been retro-actively removed.
He was robbing the band but my hot take is that the band wasn’t never as good as when Nori was around, sorry.
Dayum, that's some cold shit. My only awareness of Treble Charger is from what I caught on MuchMusic which we oddly got in the NYC area. This song is still great:
I imagine this conversation comes up with a lot of artists and producers. Like if you suggest "Hey, why don't you repeat the chorus" or "instead of going up 3 scales, go up 4-5" does that count as songwriting? Probably varies but I imagine some producers are more aggressive especially with new/younger acts.
I’d also never heard of this. I do remember way back my brothers band (don’t ask what they’re called I assure you nobody here had ever heard of them lol) had a meeting with him about working together and signing to Sony records. I walked away thinking he seemed like a very shady businessman lol
Deryck mentioned the Greg Nori issues briefly in a recent interview saying that he wanted to be a producer and that he effectively pushed Jerry Finn out by the time recording Infected was about to start which is insane to me. Finn is a legend RIP. Anyways, I still love this song so much:
Damn, never knew any of this. What a dick. Wonder if he actually co-wrote Autopilot Off's "Clockwork" or if that was another trick.
Lastnight, I finally saw Sum 41 live. So much fun! The Offspring ended up not being able to play because of severe thunderstorms/rain, but I'd seen them before so it wasn't too big a loss. Just seeing Sum 41 and Simple Plan was great because I'd never seen either of them.
I remember seeing Sum 41 back in 2016 (with Senses Fail opening in LA) after Dave rejoined and it was pretty incredible. They sound so good live and the second ticket sales go up for their farewell tour - I’m getting one. Highly suggest anyone who’s a fan but haven’t been able to see them - do so as well!
looks like a tight but solid set list. I hope they play tons of shit from their first four albums on the farewell tour. I’m not really into anything after chuck haha
That’s awesome. Sum 41 are local to me so I saw them when they were first starting out, and they didn’t sound great live then, but they’re so tight now. Simple Plan too, though they’ve always been great live. I can’t wait for the farewell tour. They better play a couple Toronto dates because I think the demand for a farewell tour up here in Canada will be huge.
I ran into Cone like a week and a half before the announcement. If I had any idea this was coming, I’d definitely have asked him lol
Yeah at this point I'm not even expecting it to come before Spring 2024. Doesn't help that they're on tour right now so they probably don't have the time to start rolling it out or something.
At the show a couple nights ago, they said the album is completely done and ready to go. No mention of when to expect it though.
Man, I'm glad I read this. I thought the Offspring tour was the last chance to see them, and was gonna snag tickets in Austin for Friday. Dunno whether or not to risk an issue on the final tour though. Sum has been my unicorn band for some reason that has never worked out me seeing live
