seeing them again and the new album got me going back to Screaming Bloody Murder which I never really gave a chance outside of the title track which I have always enjoyed. damn that album is awesome. there's a few songs that do anything for me but I'm really enjoying it. what is the general consensus on it?
Screaming Bloody Murder is probably my third favorite album by them. I love everything on it except for Baby You Don't Wanna Know and Time For You to Go, they don't fit at all and they're not really good songs anyway I'm really bummed how not into 13 Voices I am. I've listened 4 or 5 times and I just don't love it like I do most of their other stuff
I'd cut 4 songs off SBM, but then it'd be very good. The new album though isn't doing much for me either. I seem to only like "Fake My Own Death", "The Fall and the Rise", and "Twisted By Design". Besides my own opinion, I think it's safe to say that this is their worst album to date, unfortunately.
Underclass Hero is by far there worst imo. There is only 2 songs i go back to from that album and its not often at all.
Haha, that is my favorite somehow. I know it's not their best music by far, but still I like it the most.
I remember being really excited for it, and it just never clicked with me. Maybe ill give it another shot soon since im loving the new record.
I never gave Underclass Hero a fair shake, because I was such a huge fan of Dave. I like Walking Disaster, but I need to revisit that album.
Underclass Hero is odd in that it fails at what it wants to be (Deryck proving he's a Canadian version of Billie Joe Armstrong, with UH as his American Idiot) but it's a solid pop-punk album in its own right. Big fan of March of the Dogs and The Jester.
Never thought about it that way. I did always think the two sore thumbs on Sam (Baby you don't wanna know and Time for you to go) sounded like Greenday style songs lol.
Time For You To Go and Baby You Don't Wanna Know are definitely the two songs I find myself skipping over when listening to SBM. As for the new album, I agree that it's probably their weakest. Which is really disappointing because it was the most excited I've been for a Sum 41 album probably since DTLI or Chuck. Fake My Own Death is cool but other than that nothing else has really done anything for me. When I saw them in Chicago the crowd was really receptive to the new stuff though so maybe it's just me.
not just you, I feel the same :( I was hoping I'd enjoy it more than I currently am. It has lots of great parts and stuff, but it feels kinda unfinished or something.. can't really explain. my favs are def: Goddamn I'm Dead Again and the title track. I will go back and give it some more spins this week hopefully it will grow more on me.
Finally get to see these guys at the end of the month. I got into them and Blink at almost exactly the same time (when Fat Lip and The Rock Show were huge) and I got to see Blink for the first time last month, so it feels good to finally be seeing the two bands that made me care about music live. Dave was my guitar idol for so long, and I'm so glad I get to see them with him back on board.
I'm super bummed they haven't come anywhere close to where I live since they've been back, they seem like they are at 100% live and their set lists have been great (even though more SBM would be nice )
I did see them for the first time on their last tour before Derek went into the hospital and they had their long break before 13 Voices and they were fantastic still. They were coming off playing those DTLI in full shows so we got a lot of that album with the hits mixed in, it was great. I can only imagine if Derek's health was on such a decline then, how great he must sound now that he is back and healthy.
Derek is better than ever, he looks and sounds rejuvenated and it blows my mind that he can stay spot on for a +2h set.
