Digging these B-sides! I wish they would have kept them on the record. Anyways, I love 13 Voices overall and actually prefer it over Order In Decline.
Listening to Underclass Hero right now and I still find it incredibly enjoyable, even though it sounds like blink-182 and Green Day had a baby. I love the dissonant note in Speak of the Devil too.
I enjoy Underclass but it's definitely my least fave. The bridge on Pull The Curtain when Deryck sounds like he's trying to be Gerard Way makes me laugh. It's like a Frankenstein record of a bunch of different bands lol
UH has a good case for being my favorite album by them just because it sounds so much like those other bands lol. They do it really well imo
I like bits of Underclass Hero but there's no denying other bits don't work. It's very difficult to pull off serious songs and maturity alongside funny songs and early 00s throwbacks. Not impossible, but I don't think they managed it.
UH was my first "new release" after really getting into the band, so it will also have a special place for me because of that. Still remember going to Best Buy after work that summer to pick it up. The vinyl version of it is awesome by the way.
AKNF will always be my favorite record by these guys simply because of the nostalgia I have attached to it. They’re local to me, and watching them blow up when Fat Lip dropped (though Makes No Difference did get some attention here) was incredible.
There's no denying UH was heavily influenced by American Idiot and The Black Parade. Perhaps that is why I love it so. But Ma Poubelle is dead to me.
I love that "With Me" has gotten a bit of fan resurgence in popularity the last few years. The live version they have been doing of it is great.
I can agree with that for the most part. It’s just tough in a sense that they are completely different records.
Heavy and fast punk Sum 41 is my favorite. Stuff like Mr Amsterdam, Welcome To Hell, King of Contradiction, Out For Blood, 45, People Versus, Dead Again, No Reason....so good. Now that Dave is back I hope there’s more of that. That’s where he shines.
