I also am on the side that doesn't rank AKNF that high. It's a really good album but they've topped it a lot of times imo Chuck UH SBM DTLI AKNF H&H(?) OID HHOP 13V Too early to rank H&H for sure
May be the wrong way to go about it, but I definitely went straight to the back half to see how that side stood up compared to their heavier songs of the past. We'll see how it goes and then I'll come back to the 1st half Heaven.
Underclass Hero Chuck 13 Voices All Killer No Filler Does This Look Infected? > Heaven :x: Hell < Order in Decline Screaming Bloody Murder Half Hour of Power Can't place HxH any higher for now. I can understand the criticism of the songs/melodies sounding too similar to other songs or bands. Doesn't bother me too much, except that the verses of Dopamine are the exact same as Landmines lol. It makes sense that they're calling it quits here, as it sounds like they don't have any more original Sum 41 songs left in them. Overall, not a bad album. A few skips, but lots of great stuff.
This is way better than I expected it to be. Heaven has more highs for me, but I need to listen to Hell on its own as I think my attention span doesn’t really pick out hold up after the 40 minute mark. My favourites are probably Waiting On A Twist Of Fate, Dopamine, Not Quite Myself, Bad Mistake, and Rise Up.
this is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. You have underclass hero as your highest rated album and that’s exactly the stuff that people said back in 2007 when it came out. They said they ripped off green Day. They said they ripped off blink-182. They even said they ripped off themselves and we’re out of ideas
The most unintentionally funny part of this album is in "Preparasi a Salire" when he sings "Like the sun, it's time that I rise up" ... and then 20 seconds later, in the next song, he screams "I TOLD YOU I'D RISE UP"
As much as I love this band and consider them one of my all time favorites, they’ve never necessarily been the most original band. Most of their stuff sounds like it could have been by another artist, Deryck just happens to be one of the best songwriters in the genre
I remember that haha. I remember reading reviews saying that it felt like they have a bags of ideas on Chuck and that Underclass Hero sounds unoriginal and out of ideas. I remember myslef being quite disappointed and then UH became one of my most listened aside of Chuck. I still rank it below the classics but I’ve no problem to say it is good record on its own
i was bummed myself, it grew on me as well, but to follow up chuck, i was like uhhh whey did they revert back to the AKNF sound.
Well, I said it doesn't bother me so I'm not sure what the problem of me putting UH on top is lol. I only said the verses in Landmines and Dopamine are the same. Still like both songs.
After sitting with this for about a week, I'd say this is a pretty enjoyable album. I never really got into 13 Voices or Order in Decline - although I have gone back to those in the past few weeks in preparation for this album and also think those albums are fine. While I don't think there are any overly bad songs on this album, if I had to cut it down to one album, I'd probably go with the following tracklist: Side A: Preparasi A Salire (wish this song was 4 minutes) Rise Up Future Primitive Time Won't Wait Landmines Radio Silence Side B: You Wanted War Not Quite Myself House of Liars Dopamine Bad Mistake How the End Begins
I can't stop listening to this. Definitely agree with the consensus that the heaven side is better but honestly the whole thing bangs, I don't think there are any songs I would remove
I know there are a lot of complaints about including Paint It Black, but I really don't mid it at all.
