Yeah I feel like this album was not hyped up at all. I wonder how it did in Canada. They usually do big business there.
hitsdailydouble didnt even have the album title right. it's listed as just "voices." i agree though. there wasn't much promo for the album. however, i am enjoying a lot. i like it more than yellowcard and blink. maybe not quite as much as good charlotte's new one though.
Thought I should mention: I was browsing Amazon and Does This Look Infected? is $3.99 for the CD + AutoRip mp3 album immediately on your account. Even if you're like me and you're dealing with a worn out 14-year old CD, this may be worth it to you.
I didn't care for YC at all and GC only got maybe three full listens from me. This will be up with Weezer, California and Tidal Wave for me. Weezer is still my favorite of the year so far.
I think this is easily better than YC, Blink and GC. But I didn't really care for any of those. Weezer album is awesome, Tidal Wave is awesome, I really dig the new Green Day too
If Yellowcard had more songs on it like What Appears and A Place to Set A Fire it may hold a candle to this album. This, Thrice and TBS are the better ones of the year IMO.
I'm still looking forward to that Buddy Nielsen/Finch collab which is supposed to really sound like 2002 haha.
I've tried starting this multiple times now and just can't get through it. I guess it's not for me... A shame because I absolutely adore Chuck.
Finally listened to it and though I liked it, it's definitely one of their weaker albums. Is the download quality I got from Pledgemusic bad or is the production noticeably kind of weird? The mixing seemed off on some songs, which is weird because Deryck is usually a very good producer. Goddamn I'm Dead Again is absolutely killer and probably one of the best Sum 41 songs ever but the rest is gonna have to grow on me. I really didn't like the "control the little ones" song (There Will Be Blood I think?) much at all
the mix quality has been discussed frequently on other sites too. i think thats just what deryck was going for. i dont really mind that much.
This album has been a lot more of a struggle for me than I expected. Sum 41 has always been one of my favorite bands, but this album isn't really resonating much with me. There's a few awesome tracks (A Murder of Crows, Goddamn I'm Dead, The Fall & The Rise) but aside from them I haven't come back to this record much sadly...
thats too bad. ive really been enjoying it. its one i like listening to from front to back. twisted by design may be one of the best songs they have done.
Took me awhile to get to this, but I was pleseantly surprise by how good this is. Coming from, I haven't really paid attention to the Sums since I was in high school
This album is taking longer to grab me than I'm used to with these guys, but it's steadily growing on me. Favorites right now are Goddamn I'm Dead Again (obviously), Fake My Own Death, Breaking the Chains, and Twisted By Design.
This is probably one of the worst albums I've listened to this year. Especially disappointing since I used to love them back in the day
