I didn't think this was as atrocious as a lot of people here, but I've had no desire to watch it again. Spring Breakers is so good.
The “Justice League” thing makes sense because that news got them a ton of feee advertising for HBO Max. If they do with multiple movies though - yeesh.
Want a good version of this movie? Just watch Birds of Prey, and/or wait for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, lol.
Birds of Prey is so dope. One of the best r-rated comic book films, alongside Punisher: War Zone & Logan. Not the best DC film ever, but based on my preferences, honestly, probably my favorite DC film ever? Just really fun, dope shit. And, since the Guardians films are my favorite live action comic book films (alongside Ragnarok), I’m also super excited for Gunn’s Suicide Squad.
I honestly don’t know that I have a strong opinion & wouldn't mind throwing out a “Birds of Prey is the best” hot take depending on the day, lol. Honestly mostly just put that qualifier in there to preemptively defend myself. But, like, The Dark Knight exists & is obviously a very well crafted blockbuster, & the original Superman is also super important & good. *shrug*
i was fortunate enough to see phantasm in theaters literally the weekend before all this shit went down. joker got two rounds of applause (once when he first showed up, second time during "and mark hamill as the joker" in the credits) even had an intro from a pretty major batman fan, who really went in depth with how much MotP meant to him

I couldn't make it all the way through Suicide Squad, but I don't find it hard to believe that the guy who made Fury had a much better version of this movie that he was trying to make.
