God WB really is making a mess out of these films aren't they? There was no word of WB messing with Man of Steel, and that's my favorite out of the three. I wonder how much better BvS and SS would have been if we had just gotten the movies Snyder and Ayer wanted to do. Thanks for posting though, I went down the rabbit hole of his videos and I like them all, he's got a new sub!
I tried watching this for the second time and my wife literally made me realize what a piece of crap this movie really is. The scene with El Diablo, where he's in that canister. He waves his hands and it says "bye" in flames. My wife is Mexican, with a couple of gangster brothers (similar to El Diablo." She simply says "no cholo would ever say bye." I was like goddamnit, you're right and this is dumb.
Jared's scene with Common was the only Joker scene they should've cut. And then added back in the parts they took out. The ending I did not like either.
I didn't like this incarnation of the Joker whatsoever. At least with TDK, Joker had a reason for all of his decisions. In Suicide Squad, Joker seemed as if he was concerned about appearances and was putting on an act.
my favorite thing i've read about leto's joker is that he looks like a villain from grand theft auto: vice city
The Joker's character is theatrical so I liked that he was about putting on an act. I liked the mix of gangster in this one, I believed that he actually ran a part of Gotham.
Yea, I bought that he had more of a presence in Gotham this time around. I just realized after this movie that I underappreciated TDK's Joker.
A lot of people didn't. I did to an extent, it's just like everyone else has said a million times. His parts seem extremely out of place, and they didn't capitalize on the Harley dynamic at all.
I finally got around to watching this tonight and know everybody else seems to disagree but I really really enjoyed this. I'll make a short list of some of the things I liked and disliked below: Likes: -Harley -Deadshot -Joker -Jai Courtney -Viola Davis Dislikes: -Few too many characters -Joker not fleshed out enough -Villian felt too small -Slipknot was pointless Other thoughts: -I feel like this was good for an origin/introduction to WHO the Suicide Squad is and what they do. -A sequel could swap out some characters and some others could show up in other movies
Things I liked about this: Aesthetically and visually appealing Harley Quinn Jai Courtney Things I didn't like: Everything. Else.
Since Joker and Harley made an escape at the end, maybe he'll do Joker as the villain in the sequel and have the Squad tasked with getting Harley back.
I think this would be a good way to flesh out the characters that lots of people seem to have a problem with.
Yeah, even though I liked the movie overall I thought it would have been cool to do some smaller/grounded missions first before their big one. If the sequel does that as well, I think it'll help the characters having moments to shine.
If they just had normal terrorists attacking the city with the same basic storyline of them going in to save Waller or whatever, with Joker interfering by trying to get Harley back and essentially becoming the main villain, this would have been much better imo So basically Assault on Arkham lol
Hacksaw was as technically well made as it was empty and racist. Fuck Mel Gibson and his redemption tour.
