Like I said I've never really been a big fan. One of my friends saw 30 Seconds To Mars and told me how when he came on stage he posed like jesus on the cross and stood there for a few minutes just soaking in the applause. I was turned off after that, haha.
Leto feels like a less interesting Kanye. That being said, I love Requiem for a Dream and enjoy 30 Seconds to Mars.
The only thing more gratuitous than the numerous ass-shots of Harley in SS is Jared Leto's entire personality.
Requiem, Panic Room, Lord of War, Dallas Buyers Club and Suicide Squad he was good in. I know this is the Leto hate club though. Rabble Rabble
I didn't see Lord of War and I don't remember much of Panic Room. His performance in Dallas Buyers Club was more an imitation of a stereotypical concept of a trans woman than a performance and interpretation of a real character or person. And while I don't think his actual performance as the Joker was horrible, I think it was at best a kind of inoffensive Joker, there was nothing electric or awe-inspiring or disturbing or even really edgy about his his choices, if you could even get past the atrocious makeup and costuming to look for that stuff.
I can't argue about the stereotype case, but was that his choice or the script/director? He just had to take the lines that were on page and bring them to life. I think he did a fine job with that, I couldn't recognize him. Acting is being able to transform into a different person/character right? So he's not just playing himself like Michael Cera or Seth Rogen, he's actually acting even if you don't like his characters. That's how I see it. Same thing for SS, I agree the look was too much but I don't think he had a say in it. I thought he came across crazy and unsettling which is what I wanted. His laugh wasn't the best, but it certainly wasn't bad. I bet the pressure just to do a good laugh was insane on him, let alone the rest of the performance. I cut him a ton of slack. Lord of War is also Nick Cages best serious performance in god knows how long lol.
I didn't like him in this, but Leto is a perfectly ok actor. Let's not have this 8 page discussion again
Uhh are people not allowed to vocalize that they don't care for any performance from a certain actor?
this is silly, the rest of the cast is great and the director hasn't made anything close to a bad film yet... why let one casting choice turn you off from the rest of it?
Yeah this discussion was had before and I feel bad it's starting again, I said enough on it. Leto is at best fine but empty and overrated, at worst very bad.
Hasn't Leto been nominated for multiple Oscars? Or do I only think that because he constantly acts like he has?
