I personally have never given much of a shit about Leto's Joker but interesting to hear little about Rick Flagg (thought he'd be more of a main character). Still debating seeing this. Somewhere along the line, about a month back, I began to grow skeptical that this might not be so hot. Maybe it was the soundtrack (felt like it was trying to rip off GOTG to me) or the endless marketing or the production rumors. When will they be releasing the ultimate edition which will basically be Ayer's original edit right? (Jk, I'm being cheeky)
I have no real interest in what critics say about this film, but I don't see how anyone could have enjoyed Leto's insufferable shenanigans for the past year. Off putting as hell Edited for awkward wording
I really, really enjoyed this. The tonal issues are there, but i think everyone had great performances.
holy shit this movie was bad I have so many problems with it but one of it's worst sins was those god awful title cards to introduce the characters of the movie. Also what the hell was with the beginning, why did they briefly introduce Deadshot and Harley Quinn and then go to the dinner that introduced them again and everyone else? Wouldn't it of made sense just to start at that scene? Why the F U K did the make El Diablo still have those stupid tattoos when they flashbacked to his family? That looked so dumb and getting a face tattoo would make way more sense if you killed your children and wife? It was just a directionless mess that was just thrown together in post and it didn't seem like anyone knew the structure of the movie or story while filming it maybe the worst part of this movie is the fact that there are hardly any scenes where the characters just interact with each other, they don't feel like a squad at all at any point really. That scene in the bar was trying to do it but it wasn't enough to justify it. They just needed all the actors to actually act together for a whole scene. But instead they just flashed between a bunch of shit while we waited for the next classic rock song or pop song to be played. can we get a smallscale superhero movie? one that doesn't involve only the threat of the world being in peril by some cyclone of magic trash or aliens or both? One that attacks the character's character and not just an obligation to be a superhero and save the world? Mystery Men is the best ensemble cast superhero movie of all time and did everything this movie wanted to do but was way better in every conceivable way.
Lol holy shit Mystery Men haha. That's perfect. Damn, too bad they didn't put "All-Star" on the soundtrack. It could be considered an oldie at this point, so it'd fit in and... fuck, that's depressing.
a lot of people knock on that movie or don't know about it but honestly it's way more compelling of a superhero movie than anything I've seen in the last few years. it introduced all its characters so organically and they all worked so well on screen together, plus they didn't spend the first 30 minutes just telling you their backstory and motivations. PLUS it has tom waits.
yeah if they had just made the movie with the joker as the person they were trying to stop it would of not only justified him being on screen it could have actually had a connection to some of the characters. That already sounds more compelling.
I feel like I need to let everyone know that because of the Mystery Men connection Dane Cook is in the video for All Star
Movie was ok, nothing I deeply didn't like outside of Leto's perfromance and some clunky dialogue here and there. Boring big bad dragged it down, if the movie was more of the bar scene I would have loved it.
