Illinois was the best album to be released in 2005 by far IMHO. That Bright Eyes album is probably second for me though.
Every time I listen to Illinoise... it just utterly blows me away. Like, I can’t believe how good it is. It’s probably the best album of the last twenty years.
If I made lists tanning my favorite albums prior to 2012, it would end up just probably being the AltPress year end lists in a slightly different order
Serious question: If Sufjan releases a new album/tours, do y'all think he'd play ballrooms (~5,000 capacity+), arenas, or small amphitheaters? He sold out two nights at a 3,600 capacity venue back in 2015 in Chicago but I'm just trying to figure out what type of venue I'll be seeing him in to prepare.
My biggest regret is that he was at outside lands 2016 when I went but I didn’t know him back then. He played Impossible Soul...
I could see it being Northerly Island if it was a summer tour but that’s a complete guess. I know almost nothing’s about his touring history. I wanted to go to Pitchfork on that run and just never did and I have regretted it ever since
Skipping the Carrie and Lowell shows in NYC will haunt me forever. Only time I’ve ever seen him is still the BQE show in ~2007.
Both times I’ve seen him were festival sets and I would like to change that ASAP. Don’t get me wrong, his set at the first Eaux Claires is one of my favorite live music memories but I really need to see him as the headlining act in a theater or something. man... C&L feels like a lifetime ago.. Soof is such an interesting guy. It’s incredible how low key he’s been able to remain despite being one of the most prolific artists of his generation.
Saw him in Manchester on the Age of Adz tour - Was wonderful (Especially hearing The Owl and the Tanager)
ugh yes I got "Owl" at the sydney opera house C&L show too. absolutely magic, top 5 concert experience
