Finally actually LISTENED to Seven Swans recently and it’s absolutely stunning

 

They're definitely friends and when Sufjan played Eaux Claires he spoke very kindly of Justin. How they haven't managed to collab in some form is pretty wild. Some songs from C&L were tracked at April Base with Justin in attendance (IIRC)... oh what could have been.

There's still time! Here's to hoping.

 

not a popular opinion but I personally feel Sufjan did the experimental / avant thing in a successful way with Adz whereas Justin failed to grab my attention with the last two BI albums

but would obviously love to hear a collab

I could get behind a Bon Iver has never made a song better than “Perth” because it’s the best BI song....but nothing good since? Yes the worst taker I’ve seen on this site for sure.

 

oof, this is a tough one for me. While Hey Ma and Naeem are enough to make an album perfect i,i just didn't feel as consistent and focused to me as 22 did.

 

All his albums are great, but I love how he made a transitional record between Bi,Bi/22a with i,i. It mixes those two albums into a new sound perfectly imo.

 

22 is my favorite BI album, no question.

That's interesting. I feel the exact opposite. I can't get into Adz (still looking for the decoder ring that unlocks it for me) but I am fanatical about the last two BI records.

 

America sounds like a live version of a track off C&L. Love how blown up it is. Hope for more of this on the record.

I enjoy Adz but have never been able to connect with it like i do with the rest of Soofs work. I'd love for that to change.. It seems like The Ascension might feature a sound somewhere in between Adz and C&L and I'm very here for it.

 

Adz is my favorite Sufjan album and 22 a Million is my favorite Bon Iver album. I love sad bleep bloops

 

Adz is maybe the most "love it but I have to be in a very specific mood to listen to it" albums ever for me

 

Justin is not sad, does not whine, and rarely plays the acoustic these days lmao. Nice post.
