Sounds devastating and not at all what I want to hear a month removed from a breakup lol, So You Are Tired was hard enough. Think I'll wait.
This is so good. Hitting that sweet spot between All Delighted People and Carrie & Lowell. Really interesting to hear his discography becoming more cohesive after those big swings back and forth between folk and electronic.
Don’t get me wrong. Love the song. But it’s almost a little too on the nose for a Sufjan song lol. Fortunately he pulls it off. album preordered!
Man... when I started the new song I was like.... ehhhh ok it's fine, but then it builds and I was like... Oh this is cool, then the layered instruments come in like heyyo what are these Illinoise noises, then the last minute of the track gets weird and wild in a great way I like it
Listening again today after listening to the album yesterday. A lot of the live versions follow the same pattern of starting normal then evolving into something really cool. If the whole songs were the way the outros are on the live album, I would be over the moon. The second half of All Of Me Wants All Of You live is fucking wild and amazing. The build up and payoff of Should Have Known Better is better live, the studio version flirts with a build up but doesn't quite do it. The end of Fourth Of July obviously goes hard. The title track ends with a nice little flourish. The entirety of Drawn To The Blood is really cool, the best front too back reimagine. Lastly, of course, Blue Bucket of Gold (18 Minute Version) just is unreal. So that's 6 of the songs I think are very obviously better on the live album
That's so scary. Hope he's able to make a full recovery. I wonder if this is at all related to that year he was mysteriously ill around the time of Age of Adz.
