What a beautiful track. Javelin will be perfect for some melancholy autumn drives through the mountains.
Illinois and Carrie & Lowell are two sides of the same genius. Absolutely perfect records. My thing with Adz is it's a mixture of the most genius stuff he's ever created and a couple rare songs I could take or leave.
I’ve always been much more drawn to his singer-songwriter stuff. Adz is cool but I lost interest in The Ascension pretty quickly. I plan on revisiting before the new album drops, though.
My first time hearing about this and my favorite takeaway is that Marc fucking Rebillet was the one who found it.
did we ever get confirmation if this was a hoax or not? i think the consensus was that it leaned that way, but AKR never outright said it was.
I sometimes think I have unpopular Sufjan Stevens opinions - I prefer Illinois to Michigan and The Ascension to Age of Adz. Carrie & Lowell is a masterpiece though and my favourite of his albums. He has been so prolific recently. Can’t believe how many releases there have been. I eagerly anticipate this one!
Speaking of unpopular SS opinions, here’s mine: C&L tracks are only listenable in their live versions
Many are way better live, WAY better. Would kill for a studio version of those versions. Never cared for C&L but that tour was fucking wild
Adz and All Delighted was his best era. hope we're getting some of that energy back with the cover art comparisons, Ascension was a fucking slog
