I noticed that as well. Once he was out of a rehab facility he stopped providing updates. Which is fine, just happy to see he's doing well enough to go out and make music.
It was cool to see the opening night of that show last summer, but I think I'll be perfectly happy to skip this cast recording (at least for buying a physical copy haha).
She performed for the Chicago shows too and in NY before it hit Broadway with Tasha and Elijah Lyons. They all sounded really good in the show. I forgot the cast recording is out so I will have to listen to that soon.
I absolutely love how much this celebrates both sufjan and this album. But am I missing something? They just re-recorded the Illinoise album music and put dances to it? Grateful this garnered Tony noms but is there more to the production I’m missing?
It's a dance production with live music. There's some variation to the music, but it's mostly faithful to the album and adapted to fit the story on stage.
Ugh, I waited too long and now it appears both 20th anniversary editions of Seven Swans are sold out. If anyone finds a website where it's available, pls hook me up
Turntable Lab says that their stock is being processed and will be up soon. Sufjan Stevens: Seven Swans - 20th Anniversary (Indie Exclusive Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP+7"
Want to reiterate that seeing that show changed me as an artist, forever thankful for all Illinoise brought
This came out the weekend of our local Horror Fest last year, and I remember listening to it on the bus ride in. It's been in the low 60s this week and today, when "Will Anybody Ever Love Me?" started, the feelings of Fall just totally washed over me. Incredible record that only gets better as the weather cools down.
