For real though, I'm absolutely loving this album. It's even better than I expected it to be.

Sufjan singing 'hallelujah' gives me goosebumps, regardless of context.

 

One of my record stores had this out already on Tuesday so I picked it up. Attempted to listen twice already but still haven't finished it. I like what I've heard so far (which is everything but side D). Jupiter is an early favorite.

While I like this album, I wish there was a bit more diversity for it being so long. The first half has a ton of long downtempo tracks that sound pretty similar, and the ambiance does get a bit much for me sometimes. I wish there were more tracks like "Saturn"

I totally understand what you're referring to here, but for me, I love those songs as well so the whole thing is just perfect to me.

 

I totally get it, and I still really dig the album overall, but there's certain aspects that are keeping me from LOVE

 

Enjoying this album a lot. It's better than I expected it to be, for sure (though I was looking forward to it). I was a little worried after Pantano's review, but then I realized I only agree with him about 20% of the time.

Edit: Also, it's gotta be my album cover of the year. It looks so nice.

I'm finally getting around to listening to this, and just wow.

 

Every time I listen to it I pick a new favorite.

At this point, pretty much every song (not including interlude tracks) has an argument for being my favorite.

 

Pitchfork gave it a 6.0

I've found that in general Pitchfork's scores are inversely proportional to how much I enjoy an album.

 

I don't entirely disagree with that number, though I don't think I'd go quite that low

 

It's very good, but Lorde's Melodrama has the best album art of the year so far imo

 

I'm struggling with this album tbh. All the songs sound the same. It doesn't come even a little bit close to the brilliance of Sufjan's solo albums. I hope my opinion changes with more listens, but that's where I'm at right now

 

Colbert called them Planetarium, does that mean we can officially call them that now?!?!

This album is an overlooked masterpiece.
