I know it's a bit different with this particular show as it will conclude in a few weeks.

 

Isn’t the ratings difference explained by HBO’s subscription model? Most working class boomers for example aren’t paying an extra $15 for one network when they’re perfectly entertained by House or the masked idol or whatever is on nbc. I get clear NBC, ABC, and CBS with my antenna, you don’t have to pay anything.

Everyone who thinks it's only old people watching generic network TV shows are in a huge bubble (or think anyone over 35 is a boomer)

 

Actually this took me out of the scene when I saw it, felt too much like “acting”

 

ehh felt more natural than that to me. people talk with their hands! made tom feel more like a real person than the kids, who can come off as robotic (i realize this is intentional)

that's fair, maybe it was actually his sincerity in that moment that sort of felt jarring. a lot of the dialogue in this show feels like it came from a script. but interestingly enough that's also why I love it.

Ehhh, less than half of people under 50 even have cable so I doubt that many more under 50 are watching network TV. So sure it's not only "old people" but I don't think it's much of a leap to say the majority watching network Tv are older than 35.

 

I watched the two most recent episodes today. Went from “wow Tom and Shiv are so hot together they’re gona make it after all” to oh fuck

the one that seems the toughest to come back from, probably tied with the incapable of loving children one, is "Yeah, you really kept me safe while you ran off to fuck the phonebook"

That scene will live rent free for the foreseeable future. One of the best of the series.

I compare it to the Nora & Erika scene from the The Leftovers (S02E06), in terms of leaving an immediate impact on me.

Conor gets enough votes to make Menken lose the election and gets assassinated by the "O'Reillys" or whatever gang they kept mentioning that did a car bomb in Arizona. It's the RFK assassination to Kendall's Chappaquiddick. It could also be argued the stuff with Conor's mom is similar to Rosemary Kennedy
