So do we think Kendal is using during this time? Is he trying to stay clean? Is he trying to trying to stay high off his ego and his moves so he doesn’t have to use? I assume his addiction will eventually come back into play but not sure if that will result in something as significant as the end of season 1 but I feel like it’s going to come back in some way.

We can agree to disagree. The show is pretty clearly upshifting from the inner-family firing squad, what-are-we-gonna-do-about-Kendall foundational setting to going broader in act two of the season to tell a story about (what I imagine is) the relationship between corporate and political power.

It's certainly a worthwhile story to tell, but publicly decimating one of the series leads is something that could permanently destabilize what I and many others liked best about this series, which is the family power dynamics and backroom maneuvering to take over the company. In what world could Kendall conceivably be a major player in this massive company? His only realistic outs as I see it are some combination of publicly burning it all down or self-destructing. The end of the Roys could be cool/fun to watch but not necessarily what I come to this show for.

Yeah, they landed the plane well on that one (so far) but it was easily my least favorite part of the show to date. I'll be interested to see how the plot shakes out when they eventually let the shoe drop on that by the end of this season.

 

I go back and forth, because the show doesn't tend to hide his drug use from the audience. I think he's obviously unhinged and drinking but so high on his own self-aggrandizement that he isn't currently using.

 

this is where I am with it.

we see her quite a bit and they’re together a lot and we know their history but we haven’t been shown it happening or even had them talking about it so idk if he’s just flying high with drinks and the energy of having all eyes on him or if he’s also using.

will be curious to see if his using (or starting up again) causes a downfall later in the season.

I gotta say I really appreciate Kendall completely not understanding Rape Me, and using it in that way. Seems very true to character

 

he would’ve been the age group to really embrace them when they were huge but it also strikes me as a song that Kendal was told about, googled the lyrics to that morning and thought “this would be awesome to ruin Shiv’s speech”.
